Sorry if this has been posted before, because then I missed it the first time around.

The Exotic Guitar of Kahuna Kawentzmann

You can get the boy out of the Keynes era, but you can’t get the Keynes era out of the boy.

Funny, I saw them in 96 for the first time.
I wonder if this video is really 86?

Dave?

Jeff(bigtikidude)

That was radical!!
Pretty sure that's the CA insects, so I would say really late '80s maybe early 90's?

It is indeed the California Insect Surfers! There are some shots of us playing in the legendary Toes Tavern, where The Halibuts also used to play and there are some shots of us playing on the beach with the woman who used to do sound for us and her husband as auxiliary band members! I think it was filmed in 88 or 89... It's so very low budget that the alien disguises itself as a volleyball the whole time! The kids play with it and disintegrate upon touching it! Calling this a grade Z movie would be a little too kind, I don't really recommend watching it as you will never get your precious time back!

It could possibly be earlier, like 87.....

It seemed very eighties, even though It was released in 96.
Who was on bass?

Jeff(bigtikidude)

This footage rules. Killer May Queen in the beach scene Dave!

The credits start at 1:30:50 and have a surfish song. DOn't think that is the Insects though. Credits list the following people for the Insect Surfers (@1:31:45):

  • Dave Arnson
  • Michael O'Neil
  • Dano Sullivan
  • Steve "Hot Rod" Bidrowski
  • James Hoskins
  • Biz

The credits list the songs "Outsider" and "Meteorite Showers" as for the the Insects and that their album "Reverb Sun" was available.

The reviews of the movie on imdb are fun.

That's definitely a younger time.

The drummer and I go way back and that's what he looked like the last time I saw him.

Here he is in 2011 at a reunion.
