We played a large festival near Cleveland
"As a long-time member of the Berea Arts Fest member and former board member and the widow of a music professor at Baldwin-Wallace University I have a constructive comment for you. Firstly, NOTHING substitutes for talent and gimmicks will not work for long. I saw some of your performance at the recent Berea Arts Fest and frankly, I was appalled. You may be a talented musical group but all that faded into the background with your use of semi-nude women gyrating in transparent bikinis - one especially was completely inappropriate for a family friendly event. She would be more at home at a 'gentlemen's club' but not showing her bare butt in front of young children, older conservative adults and several wonderful dogs.
If you want to be successful in your future endeavors, put a sock in it or, more accurately, use some butt covers. I was ready to contact the police about inappropriate public nudity"
The girls wore full bottomed bikini's like you would have seen at the beach for the last 50 years. The festival theme was....."The Beach"

Apparently, even the dogs were puritans.

Personally I'm not a big fan of go-go dancers at surf shows and I don't like it when we have to use a gigs supplied dancers.
It's nothing about the sexualization of it. I just think it is anachronistic. I mean yes... I do play in a surf band.

leaving a snark tuner on for everyone to see is far more offensive, imo.

The Tiki Queens have danced for us every show and except for this one women the feedback has been very positive especially from women. We have women of all ages stay for entire shows and tell us how much they enjoyed the music and the girls.
I am taken back by the emotional damage we may have inflicted on the dogs that had to witness this vulgar display. Also the police captain was the one shooting the video.

I'm old and pretty blind but maybe that's the reason I couldn't see the "semi transparent bottom" . Another example of it takes everything to make the world go round.

Nice Jake...Had to look that one up. Realistically, surf for the most part is associated with another period for the general public. I think dancers are great and it gives our audience an additional visual to a less than mainstream show. IMHO there are TV commercials on cable during primetime that are much racier and inappropriate for kids. Dogs, on the other hand, are so easily offended...

You alienated the key "widows of university music professors" rock n roll demographic.
Go-Go dancers aren't my thing either, I just found that humorous. I have nothing against music education, but a stamp of approval from the realm of arts festivals and university academics is not really what I'm looking for with good rock bands.

Possibly they were already run out of Tuscaloosa a long time ago & headed north.
Personally, I can take or leave dancers but do not find the ladies objectionable at all, especially if they fit with the overall band vibe. (I find the whole mask thing distracting but am not a member of the aura-police; doesn't keep me from listening to LSJ.)
Looks like it was a fun event, for nearly everyone.

Get her tickets to see Southern Culture on the Skids next time they come through town. That way, she can be offended by go-go dancers while simultaneously being pelted with fried chicken.

When I first saw this, all I could think of was the full-coverage bathing costume in Donovan's Reef. It would make an hilarious gag to have the dancers come out dressed in these, and then take them off after one song, just like in the water skiing scene in the movie.

Some people look for things to be offended by.
Maybe when doing all ages, public events, have the ladies
Wear 60s era dresses or skirt n blouse, and go go boots.
