Here's some shots of his gear from a decade or more ago. His setup was always changing. Looking forward to checking out his current stuff this summer.

Like the Rev said, Jim's rig is constantly changing. Jim has ditched most of the rack gear, and now has multiple MASSIVE pedal boards on the floor, and with multiple tweed amplifiers behind him.

Hot off the press, from Jim Thomas, with photos on the Mermen Facebook page.
"Exciting new gear for GAMH show, April 5th.
Gonna be a bunch of new sounds
Charlie Plate - wunderkind amp designer/builder from Santa Cruz. ( the son of the owners of Santa Cruz Sound - Charlie(RIP) and
Marylou Plate( young Charlie is also a monster guitarist and pianist) He built amps for me and Jennifer. Jennifer's bass amp: THUNDERBALLS is based on the Ampeg SVT - 300 watts and handwired point to point. We had a rehearsal the other day and everyone thought the bass amp sounded amazing - a lot of R&D and tweaking went into it. Congrats to Charlie and Jennifer on a successful design/build.
Charlie built me( Jim) two one hundred watt amps based on the 1950's Fender high power tweed twin and Fender tweed Deluxe 5E3( think Neil Young) We have finally gotten the rig tweaked - after a couple of years of back and forth. The tweed custom cabinets are
made of pine with EV12L speakers( which are really weighty)
Spent the last 3 months redoing the Mermen guitar rig. Relistening to FOOD FOR OTHER FISH - for the 4/7 show I wanted to get those sounds I was getting when we recorded that album. There is a lot of new great sounds available with the new gear - The first time in a long time I have been getting the sounds I want and really enjoying playing the guitar. Come to the GAMH show....."

There are now some pictures up om the Mermen's webpage of Jim's studio from a recent session. There are a couple of pics of what looks like the same Strat as posted earlier in the thread.
