Great videos, WR! The band sounds great. I didn't know you also play a Jag.

Man, we need a US tour.

Don

YESS! That was really cool! Wannes, I see you've perfected the art of quickly pushing your glasses back up your nose while you play... We are brothers.

Great! thanks for sharing!

GREAT sounding stuff, Wannes -- I really dug it.

~B~

O.K. first off, WOW!!! sounds Killer, I really liked Makaha Padal Steel.

now a few questions,
1st, bad weather?? isn't it summer there,? was it raining?
it hasn't rained here in months and months we're really dry and gonna have a lot of fires this summer.

2nd What's with the Jeans and pollo shirts? your lovely rhythm guitarist is all dressed up, and the rest of the band is in street clothes. Not that I mind, but I thought you were one of the proponents of stage wear is better than street clothes. just razzing here, I really could care less, but whats up?
ha ha ha Rolling Eyes Wink

3rd. What was on the TV? I couldn't make it out.

4th who was that big lady that walked into the screen?
was she a waitress taking your drink orders?
what was with the funky clothes she was wearing?
traditional Netherlands garb?

5th,When is the CD coming out?
, I wanna buy one.

Just echo everyone else, awesome Wannes!

I also throughly enjoy your clown story. Laughing

Tears of a clown...when no one's around.

Science friction burns my fingers.

WR
... before us there was children's activities at 2pm, i.e. "Clown Ollie". really, absolutly no one showed for him. Imagine a full dressed, red nose - flappy shoes clown, pacing back and forth all on his own in the pouring rain through a muddy field, with a bundle of colorful ballons in each hand. It was arthouse movie surrealism. It was heartbreaking. I really felt bad. At one point he had simply packed his stuff and left, he was gone and no one not even the organizers had seen him leave. we speculated he might have hung himself somewhere.

Go to The Beloved Invaders in MySpace, click on pic below the site image - it tends to be hidden till you hover over it in MSIE - and see the Lone Pine picture. This guy on stilts came center stage during Sleep Walk ... I don't know - maybe he requested it, though it's an Invaders standard.

I realize that go-go girls are more traditional, but maybe prancing clowns are the way to go?

ok first off, WOW!!! sounds Killer, I really liked Makaha Padal Steel.

OK - now I get it. I thought it was about canoeing and being up the proverbial creek without a paddle. I assume Makaha is Hawaiian for "proverbial."

By the way, I liked it a lot, too!

3rd. What was on the TV I couldn't make it out.

I think it's the big overhead monitor displaying the video live. OK, no, someone wearing a tie is in the middle at one point.

bigtikidude
4th who was that big lady that walked into the screen? ...

The band's go-go girl. She's apparently very camera shy.

Oh, by the way, ask Chris Fesker of the Aquasonics how to do the Squad Car siren on the guitar. Very cool. Much better than blowing in a sax mouthpiece or whatever it is I've heard occasionally as an alternative.

Oops. I bet in the Netherlands police cars use that wah-wah siren. Though, actually, that might be easier ...

Yeah, the image of a clown hanging himself almost made me wet myself for some reason.

More females in surf bands please!

You guys looked and sounded great.

as for the Clown stuff it made me think of Patches, the drunken clown in
a few Deadbolt songs, that beats people up.

I agree more females in surf bands and as fans please.

The Monotones are great, why don't you guys/gal play more often?

it hasn't rained here in months and months we're really dry and gonna have a lot of fires this summer.

so much even it's on dutch television.
weather's been bad for a few weeks. it's been like that for a few years, june way too wet, july/august way too hot.

2nd What's with the Jeans and pollo shirts? your lovely rhythm guitarist is all dressed up, and the rest of the band is in street clothes. LOL, actually it was a deliberate choice, suits would have been out of context, plus we were supposed to play outside so it would have looked silly. and besides the rain, it was pretty warm. so we said what the hell, just dress street clothes. For teh record: those are not Laura's street clothes Shocked , she just likes to dress nice anyway Cool

3rd. What was on the TV? I couldn't make it out.

surfing clips from Bruce Brown movies. just the surfing.

4th who was that big lady that walked into the screen?
was she a waitress taking your drink orders?

traditional Netherlands garb?

one of the organizers getting us beer (unsollicited and not really necessary but a nice gesture). Tss, those theatre people and their funky clothing....

5th,When is the CD coming out?

you just gotto keep nagging huh? Very Happy

we have tadu tadu 'squad cars'. Rolling Eyes I dont know, that sound on the video was someone in the audience I think. we just leave out the siren normally.

I thought the mouthpiece thing was what's used on the original recordings.
