I've been following Kenny Vaughan for awhile now and though not really a Surf player he's an incredible guitarist. He's dabbled in everything from Punk to Jazz and is an acknowledged Surf music fan.
Here he is doing Ghost Riders In The Sky with his trio.

What I know of him, I would say I am. I watch the Marty Stuart Show pretty much every week--in reruns now--and have seen every episode numerous times. I'm bummed the show didn't come back. Kenny Vaughn just gets it. Everything that is cool about the guitar.

I've known Kenny since the late '90's.
He's a talented cat for sure and can play many styles of music.
I always enjoy listening to him play.
Cheers,
Jeff

I've seen him at two shows. Met him once after one. He really knows his way around a guitar, that's for sure.

I've been secretly listening to some of the contemporary county pickers for some time now. Inspiring.......... Nashville cats, so clean!

Watching some of his videos it looks like he has a Strat pickup in the neck position of his Tele, which makes for an interesting and smooth tone.
He also seems to prefer small Fender combos.

I just came across Kenny recently while watching this video of Marty Stuart playing a tribute to Clarence White, using White's B-Bender Telecaster which he now owns. That led to other videos showing Kenny's prowess.
