I guess not strictly surf in sound or style, but there were some great guitar instrumentals that came out of the 1960's Indo-Rock scene in the Netherlands. Arguably, the best known were The Tielman Brothers. There were also The Black Albinos, The Javalins, and many, many others.

Wow. It's weird how difficult it is to find a bass player here with so many bands...

Are there more instrumental surf bands in Netherlands than in Cali?

Doubtful. Our last KFJC Battle of the Bands had 16 groups and that's just up here in the San Francisco Bay Area.
But it's quite an impressive number for a smallish country.

He had some major life changes, and joined a popular band called Straf. He still dips his toes in the surf music pool occasionally, and makes the pilgrimage to Surfer Joe's.
I think he made the (wise) choice to really limit his internet intake and concentrate on his family and career.

There was a Dutch band back in the Yahoo groups era called Twang. I have their lp.
Sort of off topic: I got to hang out with Wannes and his friend at Surfer Joe in 2009 and 2015. He seems to be doing well, and it is always great to see him!

I was able to meet him in person when I was at SJ in 2012. I think he had already abandoned SG101 by then?
