Hello, Im new to Surf Guitar 101 and I'm looking for a Reverb Tank Unit. What do you recommend other than a Used Fender? Anything still in production that I can get new? Thanks

Hi! Welcome to SG101! Are you a DIY kind of person? If so, the Surfy Bear FET Reverb is a great kit. —The Reverbivores - we're local favorites! |

Some others will chime in for sure. If you’re looking used there are some good deals for Gomez, Texica and Fender Reissues reverb units. There are some boutique makers that make them NEW, Nocturne and Billy Zoom come to mind. Not sure if Kendrick, Victoria still make theirs. Surfy Bear has a non-Tube reverb DIY unit which is serviceable. The one thing I’ve noticed, is they all do “THEIR” take on the 6G15. If you want the FENDER sound I’d suggest going the Fender route, or go Gomez or Texica used. That classic DRIP is due to higher frequencies/treble in the Fenders original build. Some of the clones I've heard (Gomez and Texica excluded) reduce the treble frequencies or use MOD pans that have too much echo in them at least to me to get that classic drip. Thank you for the great advice. I will start doing my research on theses units! I'll be looking for these on the used market. Cheers. |

As far as drip per dollar goes, I believe the Surfy Bear is in a league of its own. Now that their new website is up and running, it's easier than ever to get full on spring reverb to the max for dirt cheap. I just ordered three reverb and one trem kit and they arrived in three days from Europe. Can't beat that! I bought a Revisit reverb pan off the recommendation of someone on this forum in a post and I'm looking forward to getting mine built and in service to compare to my 6G15 reissue but from all the videos I've watched on Youtube, the Surfy Bear sounds just like the Fender unit at a fraction of the cost. Bjorn put in the work; I recommend taking advantage of it! |

I have a Little Kahuna and a Dr Z Z-Verb. Both can be purchased new and are awesome but my '66 Fender 6G15 is by far my fave. |
