Hi Guys. Great thoughts and suggestions. I agree Steve. I play in a few groups which blend professionals and above average amatuers. We pay the pro's and then keep whatever is left. I have had a ton of experiences with people not practising or learning tunes. Amazing how much opportunity you give someone and they continually let you down. I think there's a point where you say enough is enough. As a leader (and I am not always this in these groups) it drains you of energy.
Plus Steve's right democracy doesn't really work. There's always someone leading even by default. Most things I throw together I lead and make that clear but give plenty of scope for others to stretch out. Interestingly enough when I have had to step out for health or life situations for awhile these groups fall apart. No one steps up to keep them running.
