Wow

Jeff(bigtikidude)

It was GREAT playing with the Goldentones at Austin's SXSW ( was it '94?) and their CDs are still GREAT !!!! So cool to see this memorabilia here!

Wow this is great! I am always looking for midwest bands to play on the show! Thanks for setting up the Bandcamp site!

So... Pax Humana / KFJC played "Midnight Too" attributed to Abisal from a Self Released album to open the Reverb Hour this week. I knew the song was The Goldentones "Midnight" off the album Atlantis. Blown away it was covered (and well done I might add).

Anyhow, that unexpected surprise led me to another!

From the bands Bandcamp page:

"Just for Fred
In the summer of 1994 The Goldentones were asked to write music for the legendary Fred Schneider of The B-52's. The project was for his solo album "Just Fred" released in 1996. Unfortunately just as the process of writing started The Goldentones abruptly stopped. 30 years later an old dusty cassette tape of primitive recordings of the ideas being crafted for Fred to front was uncovered. The sound was terrible and quiet so we cleaned it up the best we could and decided to release the final ideas The Goldentones were working on. So for the die hards of the early 90's surf revival movement, here is a "super lo-fi" E.P. called Just For Fred"

Released August 16, 2024
