Permalink The Dirty Knobs (Mike Campbell & Friends) at Harvelle's in Santa Monica

Mike Campbell, of Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers, has fronted a couple of side projects: The Blue Stingrays, and the Dirty Knobs. I saw the Dirty Knobs in a tiny little dive, a few years back. that version of the band had Campbell, Ron Blair, and Steve Ferrone of the Heartbreakers. Campbell was playing a vintage Fender Jaguar, through an early 60's Fender Blonde Brownface Bassman for a glorious tone! He was really reclusive, and made immediate B-line to and from the trailer outside before and after each set. The other Heartbreaker guys were mingling with the crowd. Here is a more recent video of the Dirty Knobs (different line-up) at Harvelle's in Santa Monica, in which Campbell absolutely blows me away.all
