I am based in Queensland Australia and am looking for ways to find other players interested in the surf or instrumental guitar style.

Hi Phil good to see another QLD'er on SG101.

There are a few of us around here. SG101 member Echobeach and I caught up and had a jam a while back and there are a few other Aussies on SG101 as well.

I think on here is the best place to look for someone.
What instrument do you play?

Do you have any muso mates who would be keen to do the surf instro band thing? Someone on here suggested getting current band mates and telling them they are now in your surf band was a good way to start. Cool

All the best with your search
Cheers

Just curious, are you Phil Judd from Split Enz/Swingers fame? I know they're New Zealanders, but maybe you moved to Australia?

Hi Sean
Thanks for the reply. I play alot of jazz on bass and sax, so know quite a few musicians but haven't ventured to ask them about playing this stuff. I am getting back into guitar and want to get some of these tunes going hence joining up here and looking around for muso's playing this stuff.

I play saxes, bass and guitar. Where are you and the other member based?

I aim to learn a set of tunes on guitar (and maybe some sax ones as well)and find some players during the next year. Smile

How long have you been playing?

Cheers

Phil

Hi Danny

No but I have been getting that a lot lately.

I imagine he wouldn't be on here looking for muso's...:-)...just give the Finn Brothers a ring...

Where are you based? Are you in a group?

Cheers

Phil

Hey Phil
I'm in Brisbane and have been playing guitar and bass for a long time, mainly focussing on my guitar lately playing in an originals rock band and playing some blues stuff at local blues jams. The surf instro stuff is always fun to play but no band at the moment.

Hey Phil, Sean, and Martin
I am in Byron Bay, I moved up from Sydney recently so looking to get another band together, I got a local drummer who's keen and looking for a bass player.
Good to see some SG101'er up around this part of the world
