Permalink Anyone play acoustic at gigs?

I have considered switching to acoustic for some of the tunes in our set. I think it would sound good on a couple of the shadows tunes. And isn't there a faint acoustic track on rumble? I think it would add a cool element. But also more of a pain lugging all that stuff around. Anyone else do it? Is it worth it?

Noel- Your response that you where going to play surf ballads caused me to stop and think..THis created quite a discussion on what a ballad is with my better half..... Lol...
I was in the mindset that ballads are determined by lyrics with a slow beat behind it (accoustic guitar is great for this). She countered with "Hall of the Mounain king", "Fantasia", etc... It looks like I will have to redetermine my classifications. Very Happy

A ballad, like any other song, needn't have lyrics. While not exactly precise, I'd include Theme From the Endless Summer, Floating Home, Last Date, Sleep Walk, and any other slow, romantic, melodic instrumental song a surf ballad. I think a slower version of Ewa on the Beach would be a wonderful acoustic surf ballad. You just have to be able to dance to it close and slow. IMHO. YMMV.

Insanitizers duo at a street festival in Vancouver WA. I'm playing melody on an $89 KTone guitar (shipping included) thru a Roland keyboard amp. Tom plays a Cordoba guitar into a Behringer acoustic amp. We're wearing dollar store sombreros (spray painted black), appropriate to the unpaid gig.

(Surf version of Gounod's "Funeral March of a Marionette" AKA Alfred Hitchcock Theme)
