Permalink Carlos Santana rediscovers the Strat :)

New Topic

From the September 2016 Guitar Player cover story - the Strat for another win!

Carlos Santana: "I used a Paul Reed Smith guitar for 'Suenos', but with all due respect to my brother and great friend, I recorded everything else on Santana IV with a gnarly, funky Stratocaster that I found in Chicago. I wanted claws and fangs and the Stratocaster is incredible for that. I'll eventually do another album with the sound I've been using for many years that's like a warm, smooth hug, but recently something inside me wants to be divinely vicious."

Divinely vicious - yes!!! That's the Strat. Smile

Amen!

Salud!

Mark

A Strat can be made to have some manners, though; unlike, say, a P90 equipped Gibson SG. Smile

Well, as the guy that played the below guitar at Woodstock, I think we can trust him to know which guitar can truly be described as 'divinely vicious.' Smile

Yup. And, if anybody could make a P90 equipped Gibson SG behave, Carlos Santana would be one of 'em. Big Grin
