i love so much this song but if i can play the lead part i have trouble to find the rythm part
i can t arrive to catch the struming partern of the rythm guitar ?(the ride is at the same frequency )
and the overall chord progression
each time i try i find something real hard to my taste ?
what i find
intro Am/Am /Gm /Gm/F/F /EF/E (0.11sec)

Am/Am/Gm/Gm/Cm/Cm/Bb/Bb/D/D/Cm/Cm/D/D/D/D at this point the solo go highter (0.36 sec)
Bm/Bm/Am/Am/Dm/Dm/C/C/E/E/Dm/Dm/E/E/Am/Am/Am/Am

(1 min) Dm/Dm/Am 1/1/Dm/Dm/Gm 1/1/ (1=this part the rythm is break for solo)
Bm/Bm/E/E/Dm/Dm/E/E

'1.24 sec)Am/Am/G/G/Cm/Cm/Bb/Bb/D/D/Cm/Cm/D/D/D/D
1.48 sec ()Bm/Bm/Am/Am/Dm/Dm/C/C/E/E/Dm/Dm/E/E/Am/Am

(2.12 sec )Am/Am/Gm/Gm/F/F/EF/E/EF/E x2
EF/E
Am last chord

sometimes the D and C Seems to be major not minor to my hear
and the strumming for me is like
1 /2 et/ et/ 4

Quick stab before supper... (to my artillery-blasted ear)

what i find
intro Am/Am /Gm /Gm/F/F /EF/E (0.11sec)

Intro is Am to G, not Gm

Am/Am/Gm/Gm/Cm/Cm/Bb/Bb/D/D/Cm/Cm/D/D/D/D at this
point the solo go highter (0.36 sec)
Bm/Bm/Am/Am/Dm/Dm/C/C/E/E/Dm/Dm/E/E/Am/Am

OK

(1 min)
Dm/Dm/Am 1/1/Dm/Dm/Gm 1/1/ (1=this part the rythm is
break for solo)

Am & Dm Am & Dm then Bm/Em/Dm/E

Bm/Bm/E/E/Dm/Dm/E/E

not hearing this piece at all

'1.24 sec)Am/Am/G/G/Cm/Cm/Bb/Bb/D/D/Cm/Cm/D/D/D/D
1.48 sec ()Bm/Bm/Am/Am/Dm/Dm/C/C/E/E/Dm/Dm/E/E/Am/Am

OK

(2.12 sec )Am/Am/Gm/Gm/F/F/EF/E/EF/E x2
EF/E
Am last chord

OK

Does that help or hurt?
(you're right, the percussion is right in there on top of some of it)

Thanks Badger
to the intro i think it is in G also (confirm in the solo ,Gmajor arpegio)
do you have idea of the strumming pattern ?
i have double the chord each time cause i hear them on 2 bars each
for the part you don't hear i will relissen it with care,
it seems i am not too far

hi ludo! just without trying, i am sure that badger is right about the G major as the song starts with the so-called spanish cadence, and the strumming pattern features in my opinion a rasgueado - also a flamenco technique. are you familiar with the chords associated with the a-minor scale???

Hi Wolfgang
just look at rasguedo ,but need a solution to make this with a pick
for Am minor scale no trouble in harmonic melodic and natural
in natural A minor scale
Am is minor
D is minor
E is minor Seven normaly (but i don t ear the seven in this case also the minor too )
G is major and seven (but for the second part after the intro i ear no seven )
when i play with the tune i find a way to play it ,but i didn t arrive to transcribe it in rythmic notation
also there 2 principal sort of rythmic patern one for intro and 1 for the verse (if we could talk for verse in instrumental)and some variation

correction
intro Am/Am /G /G/F/F /EF/E (0.11sec)ok

Am/Am/G /G /Cm/Cm/Bb/Bb/Dm/Dm/Cm/Cm/Dm/Dm/Dm/Dm
G cause solo part play G major (but the sound of minor chord don't chock me too much)and Dm i ear minor the solo play minor in fact/Cm same

at this point the solo go highter (0.36 sec)
Bm/Bm/Am/Am/Dm/Dm/Cm/Cm/E/E/Dm/Dm/E/E/Am/Am/ ok

(1 min) Am/Am/0/Am/Am/0(0=this part the rythm is break for solo)
Bm/Bm/E/E/Dm/Dm/E/E in progress i think it is good

'1.24 sec)Am/Am/G/G/Cm/Cm/Bb/Bb/Dm/Dm/Cm/Cm/Dm/Dm/Dm/Dm
1.48 sec ()Bm/Bm/Am/Am/Dm/Dm/Cm/Cm/E/E/Dm/Dm/E/E/Am/Am same as uper (1)

(2.12 sec )Am/Am/G/G/F/F/EF/E/EF/E x2
EF/E
Am last chord

no easyer to read
correction
intro Am/Am /G /G/F/F /EF/E (0.11sec)ok
1(verse)
Am/Am/G /G /Cm/Cm/Bb/Bb/Dm/Dm/Cm/Cm/Dm/Dm/Dm/Dm
(0.36 sec)Bm/Bm/Am/Am/Dm/Dm/Cm/Cm/E/E/Dm/Dm/E/E/Am/Am/
break
Am/Am/0/Am/Am/0/Bm/Bm/E/E/Dm/Dm/E/E

same as uper (1)
1.24 sec)Am/Am/G/G/Cm/Cm/Bb/Bb/Dm/Dm/Cm/Cm/Dm/Dm/Dm/Dm
1.48 sec ()Bm/Bm/Am/Am/Dm/Dm/Cm/Cm/E/E/Dm/Dm/E/E/Am/Am
(2.12 sec )Am/Am/G/G/F/F/EF/E/EF/E x2

A top '60s instrumental from the UK, the original recording of "The Mexican" was by The Fentones: The Mexican

Thanks ,i know for the Fentones but i don 't have the Cd or vinyl and with youtube compression i don't hear very well and more over my computer is far from my amp ,then it is not easy to play on

That's great! ludobag there's a good version if you want to grasp the rhythm.

uh-oh ...

yeah - but as you have a E major in there, my initial guess would be that it is more on the harmonic minor side - just for the big third to construct the E major chord ...

just my 2 cents from my very rusty memory of the theory of harmony, i may be wrong ;)

often in spanish style the E is Major or seven
but i don' recognise the sound of A min harmonic scale in the solo it is very recognisable with the G Sharp (café bagdad is a perfect exemple for )
will try to play with it on to see maybe it open my ears
i have listen carefully lot of version and the rythm guitar is played on a acoustic steel string i think with a furious pattern
