Hi all
Barely any surf instro listening here for over a year No
Been in blues/rock land. Still doing that in my band but...

This is what has conspired to get me back listening and playing surf instro Cool

  1. I clicked that I was "interested" in the Facebook event for the SG101 Annual Convention despite living in Brisbane, Australia and not able to go unless I plan way in advance. I then got an update every time Tiki Tena or Jeff updated the event. Cool I'll get there one day

  2. Saw a local band at a Rockabilly Fest with major twang content

  3. My '88 strat got a much needed setup and fret crown from a guitar tech who has made this guitar playable again, action, intonation great etc.

  4. Watched "A Fistful of Dollars" with headphones on and realised how great the Morricone soundtrack is

  5. Started recording original surf/instro material in garageband with abovementioned Strat.

  6. Dug out and had a listen to The Aqua Velvets - "Nomad" and Insect Surfers - "Infra Green"
Great, great albums, listening to "Nomad" as I type

  7. Back catching up on Clint Beachwood's "A Day at the Beach" podcasts that I have missed

    and

    I'm back.... Cool

Welcome back Sean, I noticed that you were pretty quiet post wise. What's the name of your band?.

Martin

Hey Martin how are things?

My band is UPSIZE - UPSIZE on Facebook UPSIZE on reverbnation
Sort of classic Aus rock style originals - great fun, playing locally and at festivals etc and

doing a few film clips this year which is fun

Are you playing any gigs or anything?

Hey Sean, your band sounds great. Most of my time last year was spent playing solo Jazz guitar instumentals.Building Guitars.Collecting Guitars ETC last year I Got a Gretsch 5420T Electromatic,a Gibson Les Paul and a Burns Marquee . We did a few overseas trips so I wasn't able to commit to playing in a band. I did play solo at the Bulimba Golf club open mic night on Thursday nights. I have found the band scene for old farts a bit flat of late, especialy for Surf music. Best of luck with your Band Sean.
