I thought the idea was to promote brick and mortar stores.

yes of course. but i am an asshole.
plus most cities around the world don't have a record store so all those people without record stores also have the right to celebrate.

OK, I was afraid you didn’t understand the idea. Why not hurt every physical record store with a killer surf section when you can make a quick buck.

one can drive to Livorno of course and physically buy the records at the surfer Joe diner. unfortunately I still have to find the way to make quick bucks easily, this is why I am practicing.

Where are the record stores with Killer Surf Sections?
I knew of one, Go Boy, long out of business.

it's not exactly that we make bucks on that day
as shipping is more and more expensive thanks to the monopole of a*zn
my point of view: every single record sold in whatever way helps the labels and the bands - and we are talking about people that sacrifice themselves to bring a new record out

I still find your comment pretty offensive. considering what we are investing and spending in order to share the love for surf music on a daily basis loosing "uneasy bucks" every single day. and we are a record store like any other in the end. but that's easy to talk bullshit when not knowing things or how the world works or how a day like "record store day" damages for example live music venues.
now I read you comment like a statement saying that I am a shark businessman trying to make easy money by taking advantage of the occasion. all I tell you is that the base of business is trying to use any occasion possible to work. if a record store cannot work on the other days of the year, it should have to close. but record stores make more money than me with much less work daily. so if you don't like it just don't buy.
I go to record stores any other day of the year: and you?!

I am very glad that there is still an airmail shop to offer records from all over the world!
As you will have noticed, Eddy Luca from Holland no longer runs his shop "Surfin´s Back Again".He still sells copies from his vaults.
I believe there is none in Germany, England still has Bim Bam Records.
Record Companies do offer their own products like Kami Kaze in Germany, Green Cookie Records in Greece, Sundazed in the USA etc.
The dealers who buy recoords have the risk of having lots of money put in the records but not on their bank accounts to pay bills or to buy new products.I will break my swear not to buy any more cds when I have got more than 1000 instrumental cds in my collection (I have now 1002!
Lorenzo and Anne you can count on me, I will order some items as yesterday my buddy Peter cancelled our trip to Livorno this year. His second daughter will have a graduation ball just at the time the SJSF 16 will take place. A father missing that important event would cause massive family problems, that´s not worth for any event.
Hope you will continue to buy physical copies of our beloved music instead of digital downloads only.

hi!
being someone with a lot of LPs and CDs (well, I stopped buying CDs, I just go for the vinyl being the hipster i am) and very good connections to the local stores here at home, I don't get the "brick and mortar" argument fully - all storekeepers i know do also ship, which is a just business model ...

@surferjoe I checked my calendar and the only date I can come pick a some records is MOD (Mail Order Day) and I’m sorry to offend you, but let me clarify that I don’t disregard a quick buck. Maybe Surf needs more good business men, that stand to it, too? Idea hi-jacking or otherwise.
To those making sacrifices: that’s new. To us it was worth it. And it’s either worth it or a sacrifice. Can’t be both.
