I recently played a gig in Beijing, China and have written a 3 part blog about it. Part 2 will probably be of most interest here but feel free to read parts 1 & 3.

Read the whole thing; that was cool, thanks for sharing the trip. Men in suits & women in dresses & Tsingtao at the Wall. Far out. Holy cow are you one brave and tough guy! To take on China without even your own guitar? Geez, unbelievable. Great adventure story for sure! I'll bet that guitar shows up on eBay with a big time reserve! Best Reverbs! ed —Traditional........speak softly and play through a big blonde amp. Did I mention that I still like big blonde amps? |

I find it kind of ironic with all the guitars being produced in China now that they got you a MIM. Thanks for sharing your adventure with us. |

Wow, quite a story, Martin! A TC Electronic Flashback is supposed to be an excellent delay/echo pedal, so in the end they hooked you up with a good unit. I've read very good things about that Zoom multieffects pedal, too, though probably not something very easy to figure out on the fly, if you don't have any previous experience with it. Unbelievable that the overdrive level knob was broken, though! Wow. Good to hear you were able to sort it all out in the end, though. Quite an adventure! —Ivan |

Ivan, I must say I was very impressed with the TC delay, it had a nice warm sound. The overdrive pedal seemed to be a copy of the Ibanez Tube Screamer but with an extra gain setting. I didn't care for it too much. I have the original 808 and TS9 tube screamers and they don't sound like this pedal at all. |

The drum kit was a DW and was very good. Bass was a Mexican Jazz that we re strung with flatwounds and that came out all right through an Ampeg amp. The best guitar was a Mexican tele, we put on a new set of strings and after minor adjustment it was a really nice guitar. We had to turn the treble down on the amp compared to our usual settings. The amp was a Fender Hot Rod Deluxe. |
