Is this Baritone Guitar? Or some other animal? I know the beginning starts of with a bass run, but the main melody. It's down to a C so I assume Baritone - is that right?

I saw this movie a couple of years back - great "so bad it's good" B movie with Beau Bridges and young Ron Howard!

But this song caught my attention.

Do you all have any suggestions of similar soundtracks like this that have this kind of quirky hybrid surf/spy/spaghetti kind psychedelic vibe going on?

I think Tarantino used that song in Death Proof.

That's Jack Nitzche. He was also famous for The Lonely Surfer.

I think he's playing a Fender Bass VI on those tracks.

Probably played on a Bass VI. Not sure whether a Baritone tuning was used.
A different mix was used over the opening credits of Death Proof.
We play it using a baritone tuned A-A.

All,
I thought I recognized the chick..that's Joy Harmon. She's the tease that was driving the chain gang crew in "Cool Hand Luke" crazy when they spotted her washing her car in a one button blouse.

The things some people do for "career" and money.
oh well

You're so lucky to live in an area where not only are the musicians into this stuff, but you can go out and play it in venues. I wish I could find people like that.

I suppose I'll google bass VI and baritone now...

I tell you what, if I could make money off my looks, I'd darn sure do it. Unfortunately, I have to pay people to notice me!

I just happened to be flipping through stations this past weekend and Cool Hand Look was on TCM.

I caught it right at this very scene. How apropos. Or not...
