I listened from 730 - 3:30 today, what great shows! Niels, thanks for providing this amazing service.

As for "Ewa on the Beach" moving up a spot to #3, I can not believe it! I wish I knew how to thank each person who voted, for keeping that song in mind and close to your heart. I genuinely thought it would have fallen off the list. Thank you all so much!

I got to listen to quite a bit of both programs, and just wanted to add my kudos to the others--great job to all involved in this labor of love. It makes me fall in love with surf music all over again. The Classic 101...wow, what a canon of great music this genre produced in a short time, and the Revival 101 proves its incredible and lasting legacy with the diverse and talented groups who have taken it to the next level.

The Top 10 classics are very well defined. Over the three years that the 101 list has been tallied, the rankings may have changed but the tracks have stayed almost exactly the same. Only two tracks have ever entered or left the top 10: “Squad Car” and “Everybody Up!” The 2013 and 2015 lists contain exactly the same tracks.

Here's the Top 10 by average ranking over the past three votes:

  1. The Chantays - "Pipeline"
  2. The Fender IV - "Mar Gaya"
  3. Dick Dale & his Del-Tones - "Misirlou"
  4. The Sentinels - "Latinia"
  5. The Lively Ones - "Surf Rider"
  6. The Trashmen - Malaguena""
  7. The Belairs - "Mr. Moto"
  8. The Astronauts - "Baja"
  9. The Pyramids - "Penetratrion"
  10. Eddie & The Showmen - "Squad Car"

And a question: Is there a compilation CD with The Fender IV's tracks currently available (not out of print)?

This is a comp of all of the Fender IV songs along with Randy Holden's post-Fender IV Sons of Adam stuff.

Holy Number Crunching Phantom Man!

I would hazard a guess that shifts (lower or off the list) from previous years are an indicator of the phenomenal amount of great new music that quickly provided "informational overload" to avid listeners.

More of the " WTF? I can only pick 10 ?!?" syndrome.
Cool

Yeah you can say that again.
But for 2016 we have a couple of new lists coming up that make way for a greater range of tracks.
Watch this space.

Thank you for all your hard work, Niels, that is all truly impressive!

I'm completely blown away how well the Space Cossacks did - thanks to all of you that voted for the Cossacks as well as the Madeira!

Ferenc, I have a strong feeling Ewa On the Beach is going to stay close to the very top of these polls for as long as they're carried out! To my ears it was obvious the first time I heard it that it was an instant classic. You've created something truly special with that song.

You're welcome Ivan!

Congrats on all those amazing compositions that made it into the list!
I think the rising popularity of your Space Cossacks material and Jon's stuff definitely has something to do with the mindblowing show you guys did on Surfer Joe. Very often we can see the result of Surfer Joe on the list. We saw it in the latest Album Top 101 and we notice it again with this list.

As for my efforts, it's a delight to be able to do this.
Back when I started getting into serious music when I was 12 years old I was always making lists; best bands, best albums, best tracks etc. etc.
And every year I listened to the "Top 100 of all time" countdown list on national radio. It was a list with Rock Classics of bands like Led Zeppelin, Queen, Deep Purple etc.
The first one that I listened to when I was 12 triggered me to start digging in my parents' record collection that contained about 90% of that list. Here it is: http://www.top100-allertijden.nl/html/lijsten/that1983.htm

Seeing all those votes come in and seeing the list develop is very exciting and crunching the numbers afterwards even more so.

For 2016 we have at least three new countdown lists coming up which will be announced gradually as they open for voting.
