Permalink reverb pedal shootout (surfy bear, surf rider, topanga, and frv-1)

i recently did this reverb shootout for my podcast, thought you guys would enjoy.

The tank you are using with the Surfy Bear looks to be a MOD. I bought one of those and did not like it – too dark and cavernous (tail too long). I got some Gibbs pans, very old NOS and LOVE the sound of those: splashy with fairly short tail. Pans are acoustic-electric devices and vary greatly in their performance.
Heat from the FET circuit ought to be vented in a larger enclosure. Mine has never gotten the least bit warm because it's bolted to a 8"x18" steel lid with approx. 1296 cu. in. airspace below it in the box.

im planning on moving it into a larger box, ill probably be playing with various pans with it until im happy, they are cheap enough to experiment with.
