Permalink Jim Messina's chihuahua Guitar Solo

New Topic

Hey everyone,

I have been trying to work out the solo to chihuahua, but can't seem to note-4-note it. The song is E, but I believe the solo is over an E & D major chords. I think I hear a few accidentals ? I was wondering if anyone ever worked this out, if so, what scale and position is being used. Thanks so much.

Can't help you there but I was lucky enough to see the Jim Messina tribute practice and perform twice. It was amazing.

Sounds Myxolydian, typical of Mexi-themed songs with a major feel. Allows for major-feeling notes in the sub- tonic chord (actually Lydian against theat chord).

wow, Brian you are lucky! I saw a few of the vids posted on youtube and they knocked my socks off. That must have been great.

JObeast, I will have to touch up on my theory to make out what you said. Thanks, and happy belated birthday bro!

Thanks John for sharing that in this thread.
What a fun tune to just jam with. (And another reminder of what a pleasing thing a Strat is in the rhythm role.)

A tribute to Jim Messina! Very cool!

Very nice. I am pretty partial to anything that is related to Chihuahua
