Just noticed Amplitube 4 has been announced. I really liked Amplitube 3 for silent practice, good direct recording and the fact there is an outboard reverb tank model. They are advertising a big improvement in the cab simulation section. From realistic to... Hyper-Realistic(tm)... It also promises to be Hyper-Intuitive(tm) to use. No joke.

Amplitube 3 was a free download with a store to buy optional gear pieces. I can't figure out if this is the same idea or not.

With a good amount of tweaking the Showman model combined with the outboard reverb is great for what it is and I've gotten lots of use out of them. I'm still using Amplitube but mostly just for the cabs. I've been using a loadbox with an amp and tank going into amplitube cabs and am very happy with the sound. Curious to hear the new ones. One day I will not live in an apartment building and be able to play at home with a real speaker.

Looks cool! I use Logic Pro X, same idea! I don't even use it for silent practice. Just good old fashioned turning up my monitors loud and making some noise.

From what I gather, there will be a free Custom Shop version, but you won't get the new cab rooms, amps, mic and speaker options etc, and things like the built-in DAW and looper will have limited functionality...

I have the full AmpliTube 3 with some additional collections (Fender, Hendrix, Slash) and I use it quite a lot for (non-silent) home practice and recording of basic song ideas. So I went ahead and pre-ordered A4.

I'm very curious to try it out when it's released in October, both the new content and the old: all previous A3 models/collections can be restored in A4 and should be able to take advantage of the new cab, mic and speaker features, even though the old models haven't been re-coded.

Damn, the cab room is the only feature I'm interested in (I have a DAW, don't need looper or more amps) was hoping it would be part of the free edition. Let me know how you find it when it comes out!
