Permalink Inca Silver Jag w/ Clay Dot Neck

New Topic
Goto Page: 1 2 Next

Just came in today. I was going to keep the neck and flip the rest, but holy hell is this guitar incredible. The fit and finish is something really special.

This guitar has a 1964 clay dot neck, vintage knobs, an Inca Silver MJT body, and all AV'65 parts.

Look at that checking... it looks better in person. Just flawless relic'ing. I would never want something relic'd(as I destroy guitars pretty quickly), but this is really quite nice.

Another Jag...

Looks great. We're going to need to see a family photo once the shell pink is complete!
Just curious about why it has a standard saddle on the B and mustangs on the rest?

No clue! The mustang saddles sound like complete shit... so muddy. The B actually sounds decent. I implore you all, get those saddles off of your guitars... This guy is getting a Mastery on Saturday.

Also, my Shell Pink is going to be complete on Saturday as well, so family photos shall commence! I'm not sure what time I'll finish(I've got a b-day party on Saturday evening) so photos might have to wait until Sunday.

I love Jags! Sharp and can't wait for the family photos. You are the Jag-man

Peace to you, not on you

Gosh, that headstock looks like it's been earning its keep for many years. Nice score. Smile

Jake...

That is beauteous.

Please pardon my drool puddles.

Great color for a Jag, looks good!

!!!

Some people get all the nice things

IMO.

Put a Stay Trem bridge on today, re-shimmed, re-wired, re-centered the neck, adjusted the vibrato's action, added more foam to the pickups, adjusted the pickups.

Big improvement! Still not a huge fan of the Staytrem, I bought this one to save some bucks/revisit for my Shell Pink build but with how light the body is on the Shell Pink I thought the Mastery would be a much better fit so I put the Staytrem on this guy. Really glad I didn't do the Staytrem on the Shell Pink.

The AVRI vibrato is also yucky... Spring is merely okay, top to bottom there just isn't as much room, and that collet is an abomination. I got a vintage vibrato FOR $100 FLIPPIN' DOLLARS today!!! Can't wait until it comes, I also picked up a Wronski switch which I intend to install.

Good call on the bridge. Aesthetically at least, the mastery would have looked too modern for this one, and will indeed be sweet on the pink.
Very unique and characterful guitar.
Your collection is so over the top, it's not even a thing to be jealous of, just amazed at and admired.
The level of professional NUTS in this forum is freaking hilarious. What a bunch of maniacs! In the very best of ways.
I celebrate your progression towards Jags only. Sold them vintage JM's, that Gibson... No remorse, forward moving, dedicated, focused freak! . Duh Shocked

How many Jags are you up to now Jake? And how many guitars total?

Ha! Thanks Jeff! I still have the '64 ES-355, a '62 J-50, a '57 Belmont, and some other odds and ends.

Five Jags total! Probably 15 overall, I always count differently.

yeah, definitely the nicest looking one of the lot imo.

Well done Jake. Pretty.

I'm losing my mind a little bit over the black one wit the f-hole. There's some kinda scrolly cowboy vibe going on there. No disrespect intended.

Pretty

Beautiful family photo. So..., what do you have planned for the next one!

This? Hopefully nothing planned, except maybe a tele or Jazzmaster.

I was also thinking of doing a Buck Owens colored Jag/Jazzmaster and with a Red/White/Blue striped neck as well.

You clearly have a tiger by the tail...
