Got mine at the convention, had a couple of listening, this is an amazing album ! An instrumental masterpiece, full of catchy riffs and beautiful eastern/oriental melodies. So far my favorite songs are Journey to the center of the Surf, Farthest Shore, The Argonaut and Leviathan, but all of them are great. Thanks for this the Madeira, a great trip in ancient seas !

Great talking to you at SG101, Ivan! The Jesters tribute was fantastic. Congrats on the new CD! Stellar musicianship as expected. The closing tune "Into the Deep" is a pretty powerful and emotional tune.

Thank you very much, The Cholla, Lars and Norm! I greatly appreciate it, and am happy to hear people are diggin' it!
Norm, you might be happy to know that 1) I kept thinking of you when working on the Jesters tribute - "if we can meet Norm's standards, then this will rock!" - so I'm really happy to hear you enjoyed it! 2) I spun Boss Fink's R.P.M. yesterday again, and it's really a great blast of surf and drag music! Thick and energetic, you really captured the spirit and sound of first wave - not that there was much doubt you would, anyway! Well done!

Thank you, Dario! A CD coming your way soon....
Check out these INCREDIBLE reviews of our Sandstorm and Ancient Winds albums, as well the new album by The Monterreys (with Jeremy DeHart of Aqualads on bass - Jeremy also co-wrote a song with us on Ancient Winds!), written by Hunter, the DJ of the New Orleans weekly surf music show Storm Surge of Reverb: Instrumental Rock & Roll and Surf Rock on WTUL New Orleans! THANK YOU, Hunter! We deeply appreciate all your kind words!

We are excited to announce the release of “Ancient Winds” (Double Crown DCCD 65), our fourth full-length studio album (and our sixth release overall)! After ten years of adventures through the lethal deserts of the Sahara and the dark and mysterious depths of the sub-Saharan jungles, the Madeira have now set sail for the unexplored waters of the Mediterranean Sea in search of a sea monster to slay. The 13 songs (12 originals and a cover of the Atlantics’ “Coral Island”) take the listener on a nautical adventure unprecedented in the annals of surf music! Here’s the full tracklist:
Journey to the Center of the Surf
Hail, Poseidon!
Ancient Winds
Sirena
Caravela
Farthest Shore
Dawn in Cadiz
Coral Island
Prelude to Launch
The Argonaut
Here Be Dragons
Leviathan
Into the Deep
“Ancient Winds” is also notable for songwriting collaborations with some of the leading classic and modern surf musicians: “The Argonaut” was co-written with the legendary surf guitarist Jim Skiathitis of Australia’s iconic surf band the Atlantics; “Dawn in Cadiz” was co-written with Alex Anthony Faide of Los Twang! Marvels; “Sirena” with Danny Snyder of the TomorrowMen; and “Hail, Poseidon!” with Jeremy DeHart of Aqualads! Each of these remarkable musicians put his own stamp on these songs, giving the album exciting new breadth and range.
You can now stream and/or download three songs (“Journey to the Center of the Surf," “Hail, Poseidon!” and “Ancient Winds”) on our Media page(http://themadeira.net/songs/). The official album release date is September 1, 2015 at which point it will be available from Double Crown Records, CD Baby, Amazon, iTunes, etc. You will also be able to buy the CD at our Milwaukee Surf Cruise show on Saturday, August 29th (sharing the bill with the Revomatics – only a handful tickets left at this point, about 12 – get them quick if you wish to go!), as well as at our two album release shows: on Friday, September 4th at Mike’n’Molly’s in Champaign, IL (with the Revomatics and Go! Tsunami), and on Saturday, September 5th at The Melody Inn in Indianapolis (with the Mystery Men? and Thee Aquaholics). We very much hope you will join us at one of these very special shows, in particular the two CD release shows where we plan to perform the new album in its entirety!
In addition to these, we will play more shows throughout the region this Fall, including Cincinnati and Chicago in October, Lafayette in November, and hopefully two more shows in December, yet to be confirmed. The Chicago show on October 24th will be a very special one – we were invited to perform at the Saturday night showcase for the first ever CD Baby DIY Musician Conference at the historic Congress Plaza Hotel. The conference is designed to address the needs of independent musicians and supply them with practical advice that will help move their careers forward. We are absolutely thrilled to be a part of such a wonderful event, and are very grateful to the organizers for including us. See more info here: http://diymusiciancon.com/ Also, check out our Shows page (http://themadeira.net/gigs/) for more details on the other shows.
We hope you enjoy the three new tracks, and look forward to seeing you at one of our many coming shows!

First, thank you for sharing the 3 songs that will tide me over for the next 10 days. Really stoked to hear the collaborations, especially the one with Jim given the spot in my heart for The Atlantics; there are some serious historic moments coming along here. Although you're the presence here at this site, convey congrats to the entire band. Counting days to the cruise...
(invokes Stasi voice)" Ahlll your merch ahr belahng to me!"
The DIY Conference is a really cool thing that (I hope) portends a direction, or branch of a growing tree. Would be really cool if, at some point, the conference sessions can be reviewed later in a similar way to things like nat'l security or econ conferences. I think it's that important; successful folks talking about becoming successful. Heaven knows this forum takes & engages with folks in such topics all the time. (Would beat the hell out of CSPAN too.)

Any whispy thoughts about touring SA or Oceania at some point...?

Wonderful tracks, there. Guys sound so good, always raising the bar. Can't wait to listen to the album fully, at good volume. Every release is a celebration and display of guitar music at it's best.
Some of the bands here, like Madeira and Tomorrowmen for sure, are so musically advanced and mature, that it's so beyond what the general public would consider "surf", that, well, what I'm trying to say is that the world doesn't know. It should. Let's consider ourselves lucky.

Thank you very much, Mike! Yep, lots of Greek themes - and of course, one song co-written with a Greek! And a pretty notable Greek, at that! We figured Greece can use some support during these trying times!

Thank you very much, Wes, you're very kind! Very much looking forward to meeting you in person in ten days. And hopefully you'll enjoy the collaboration with Jim. My opinion - as well as Jim's, which is much more important! - is that it definitely captures the adventurous spirit of the Atlantics.

Definitely hope so, though we shall see. After nearly 20 years of playing surf music, I've learned to not ever get my hopes up very high anymore...

Yeah, that would be cool. I have no idea if they have any plans to do that, but if they do, I'll certainly post it on SG101.

Again, thank you very much, Ariel! We really appreciate the support from all of you guys!

The bands don't consider them so lucky about this, I can tell you that... If I had a dollar for every time that I've had people tell me, "if only the wider music world knew about you guys...", well, I'd have at least 10 dollars!
Any whispy thoughts about touring SA or Oceania at some point...?
Ha! How incredible would that be?? Here's a quick story related to this: at the end of the Blair-Pongracic Band Europe tour, the four of us were sitting at some restaurant in Spain, having an absolutely wonderful time together. John said, 'wouldn't it be great if we could take this to the US, do a tour there, too?" My response: "Why, because we haven't lost quite enough money yet??" Everybody laughed - and then cried a bit. I think heading to SA or Oceania would probably require a loss of money far beyond that even! If that ever changes, we're there! But it may be a while... Sorry!
Thanks, guys!

I gotta ask...
What's the genesis of the "No Trumpets!" on the inside of the CD jacket?

Got my Double Crown notice this morning. Since there's no avoiding it I guess I'd better get this over with. Sigh...
