Bassist here in the Tampa Bay area of Florida. Just a few surf-ish bands around here. They supplement their playlists with classic rock. If it wasn't for the Suncoast Blues Society there would be nothing that I'd be interested in going out to see. |

Thunderbass--I know what you mean about the time. I had better luck in Memphis finding surf musicians (2). Nothing here or in Mobile. There are a couple of surf bands in Gainesville I hear. Too far to drive to practice!! —Enjoying the surf, sun and sand!! |

Hello surf players!! News as of today!!: No players found. No band formed. Selling the condo and moving. Maybe I moved to the wrong beach town. Beat cancer and I can't find a bass player and a drummer. Tired. Getting my telecaster back out. Back to swamp music. More later. —Enjoying the surf, sun and sand!! |

As of today, no surf band. No swamp music band. Jimmy Buffet played in Orange Beach a few days back and the Hang Out festival was a couple of weeks back. No surf. Did not go. Enjoying the surf, sun and sand!! |

Sounds like a good idea---but I don't know how to record on a computer. Give me 2 or 3 old reel-to-reels, a couple of mikes and a mixer and I can do good work. When I was in radio, I did my own music for my commercials in the station's studio. No problem! I can't even figure out how to download my Fender Fuse stuff into my Mustang III. I can do little more than use my new computer (HP laptop) to do emails and read forums and order stuff I don't need. Retired now and on a limited budget and the Mrs. runs the books and now new computor stuff for awhile, sorry Horax. —Enjoying the surf, sun and sand!! |

Hey, I know the feeling. I have an intro band in Baton Rouge and we can't buy a gig. We've got four CD s with great reviews from Pipeline, Vintage Guitar etc. We still have to drive to San Antonio, Austin or Atlanta to play for good surf crowds! I'm thinking of relocating too! |

I can personally testify to what a WONDERFUL band Rondo Hatton is! It's a CRIME that you guys have a hard time getting gigs! Makes you wonder what other treasures are out in the world that we don't know about because of trouble getting gigs. —

I saw the High Fidelics at the Dick Dale show in Pensacola a couple of years ago. Great band! Great guitar player too! And they couldn't get any gigs after that in the area. I moved here with high hopes. So we're moving over to Lillian Al. which has a small beach on Perdido bay. We will be 1/2 hour from Pensacola and Gulf Shores. Closer to the water than our current location. Retiring from music? Live performances? Maybe, maybe not. —Enjoying the surf, sun and sand!! |

I've never heard of surf bands in Gainesville. I wish. The music scene here sucks. |

^^ I used to play with a group in Gainesville. I don't know if there is anything there now in terms of Surf. This was 5-6 years ago. I am in Orlando, hopefully my band is ready to play soon! |
