Check this out! I think this is probably the easiest way ever to nail all the various versions of Hank Marvin's echoes. It's by the guy who developed the patches Hank's been using.

This picture kinda says it all. How easy is this to get the exactly right echo?

Pricey... Incredibly specialized...
I guess it's one way to go...
Or spend less than half on a brand new Zoom G3/5 and this:
https://www.hallsecho.com/home.html
And still have a fully capable multi-effects unit...
To each his own...

Some input crunching needed but the patch list has been out (free) for the Zoom 508 as well, should a person find one at (from what I've seen) ~$180-200.
How much is Charlie's G3/5 package?

Thanks for the breakdown. I'm not saying they shouldn't get paid for what really amounts to decades of continuous work & apparently plenty are happy to oblige.
Thanks Noel for the heads-up.

According to the site, Hall's Echoes are licensed by/from EFTP which was the original Charlie Hall product, so it's not some sort of software bootleg (of which there are plenty out there, including burned EPROM chips).
They also address the Hall/Collins unit, as well as other competitors/alternatives.

I have no preference or personal interest - Just putting the info out there.

This could be the one and only echo machine for all would be Hank B Marvins out there, if you're willing to pay the price.

Me too, for about a 1/2 minute but I'm saving for a Jag, and merch mad-money for a concert in August, etc.
One thing I did, just as an experiment, was take my delay pedal (EchoPark clone) and benchmark some of the multi-tap settings & measure the delays I can already make (using the DAW software). Using this for comparison I found a couple of good settings that cover most things. One for such things as Apache, and one for other stuff. The funny part was they were right back at settings I'd done by ear already.
So much of this I suspect is also how the player approaches the song, pick attack & where (Hank apparently used alot of upstrokes) & other variables. This would probably be the cat's meow for a live tribute band that didn't already have that capability.
I congratulate them sincerely but I'm going back to saving for my Jag.

I am also not buying. Still have that Zoom 508 sitting here, which covers most Shadows styles perfectly. If only I could play like Hank...

This device is obviously not only for the Shadows fan.
Here it is being used in a live performance to emulate the sound of the Atlantics and their Klemt echo:

It is a very versatile machine that has several echoes on board, even Finnish Rautalanka.

Again, not dismissing their efforts but I can get quite a few sounds out of my El Capistan. (Obviously not all available with the tap of a foot.) Part of being able to do that required some research into how the different tape machines operated & their characteristics and how the secondary functions on the El Cap can be adjusted. (e.g., in Scandinavia often what you're trying to emulate is a Binson Echorec which was a disc and not tape at all, or a Roland, which is another animal, etc.) Sometimes I wish my El Cap had 3 favorites I could store though. My opinion only, much of the sound is derived in the playing of the piece.

Yes, I got one from the first batch - absolutely brilliant and can do much more than simply the Shadows. I can say that David Gilmour bought one and is using it in his latest recordings.
All the best,
Nick

Nick, sorry I missed your post. Welcome to sg101! Glad you're here. Do you know of a sample of something by Gilmore using the Hall & Collins echo? Oh, and now that you've been using it a while, could you please tell more about the pedal. Thanks!

Here's Martin Cilia demonstrating the Hall & Collins Signature Echo pedal playing Dawn Patrol.
