Permalink Just Hank Marvin (1997) - Instructional video

Stumbled on this on YouTube, and just watched the first 15 minutes. I have it on a VHS tape somewhere, but it's been many years since I've seen it. I forgot how nice it actually is! Hank shows himself to be a true gentleman, and reveals many of the tricks of his trade. A very nice intro to the Sound of the Shadows, I highly recommend it!

Thanks for posting that!

Now I know what I'll be doing for the next hour! Watch an awesome video of Hank Marvin in hopes of getting a better player, instead of practicing Smile

I've had that one bookmarked for awhile & it gets regular viewing. Thanks Ivan for sharing for others. He remains an object lesson in how to be a class act as a person.

Ivan,
Nice insight into Hank's technique. I have tab books of the Shadows as well as videos of Shads music from other players. This video follows the tabs I have fairly accurately. The added "tricks" with echo, whammy bar, muting etc. aren't the tab books. So it's a nice compliment to the tab books
So - I'm (re)experimenting with the Korg and Roland Space echos(new and old) and having fun.
I expect an edgier sound with a Mosrite over a Strat - but that's kinda what I like.
great post.. thanks

Thanks, Kostas, Wes, John, Sancho and Hexabuzz, glad to see you're enjoying it! Happy to be of service!

I finally have some quiet time to watch, listen, and learn. Thanks, Ivan!

This is Noel. Reverb's at maximum an' I'm givin' 'er all she's got.

anyone else think him and Dustin Hoffman look alike

Great video Ivan!
I'v seen it on YouTube before but only small parts of it.

Wounder if there is something similar with DD. . . .

(By the way, I find it interesting that Hank is using 2 pivot bridge with modern saddles, 31:06)

Cheers,
Mark.
