Permalink Signal chain with external reverb tank

New Topic

I'm a total noob when it comes to this vintage stuff...

Am I correct that the traditional signal chain is

Guitar > Reverb > Amp ?

Where should pedals fit into this? How about if the amp has an effects loop?

Sorry for the basic question...

Yes that is correct, but the pedal location depends on the type of pedals.
A booster, probably after the reverb (though some people use it before).
Echo? probably before, but usually they don't work that well together (so you'll need to reduce the amount of reverb).

Thanks, Ran!

Yes, that's correct. Time based effects (usually) go to the end of the signal chain, that means putting the tank at the very end is (usually) the way to go, BUT there is no right or wrong. Trial and error will lead to a better result than anything ever written on the internet.
I put the tank at the end of the chain, after my effects board (boost/trem/delay) and I am very satisfied with the result.
Effect loops usually don't work well, as the tank needs to be hit by the guitar signal to produce that nice and drippy sound.
Oh and don't put a very long cable between the tank and amp. That might cause some trouble. Try to keep it short.

Great! Thanks for the advice!
