This is just a fantastic collection, for the fan like me that didn't have everything, to the one who did...because there's plenty of rare and unreleased stuff. Just a treasure trove of goodies. It's great to have all this collected in one place! It feels like a thank-you to the fans. Very cool of them to share this. This is definitely a "must have", because who can't use more Satan's Pilgrims in their lives? What a sound!
I also feel privileged because I noticed they used one of my pictures from the Dot's block party show in the photo montage! One of my most memorable days ever.

Waiting for my reward!
Glad to know SP's are back on action! Yes

STOKED!!!

I've been totally digging Frankenstomp. And it appears that the bottom center picture is from the "Santa's Pilgrims" set at the Powell's Books (my wife works at Powell's) Christmas Party (1995 or 96??) at Montgomery Park here in Portland. Mom and Dad embarrassed our young daughters mightily with their dancing and carrying on... :) Great package musically, informationally and visually!

Rick

"Sukiyaki" most definitely needed to see the light of day. Duane Eddy in a sushi bar. Great tune and performance by the band. A must-have addition to the official recorded canon! I also agree with the liner notes on "Mr. Beatle" from the same session. It does sound like Carl Wilson sitting in with the Beatles. Haha...love it. What's great about SP is that they have the swingin' Twist party thing down. And dang, Ted...you can sing frat/garage rocker. Gotta get that Chimps album, too.

And what band has a house? Besides the Monkees, I mean. You guys were like the real life Monkees...I imagine songs spontaneously breaking out amidst hilarious hijinks and daily dramas.

I have to agree with Norm elsewhere..."The Pilgrims have a way of making me so damn happy it's hard to explain".

Note: I split the posts above this one off of the "Satan's Pilgrims kickstarter" thread so we could focus on the new release (at Ted's request).

Ha! As I'm now writing a few posts for SG101, Frankenstomp is playing! What a great album, and simply the definitive wrapping-up-of-loose-ends for the band! Love it!

I'm glad that everyone that contributed to our kickstarter for the cd has received it and is enjoying it. Those of you that signed up for autographed copies will be getting theirs soon, we tried to do the cross country signing asap. Thanks for your patience. We are still working out when the official release will be. Probably between the record release party and Surfer Joe, with orders shipping out after the European tour. Thanks to all!

My very great listening pleasure. You're welcome!

I got my awesome package a few days ago, and have been really digging this album.
Ben Tanaka is indeed worth it by itself as Norm mentioned. Such a great song to revisit, it's been playing in my head for the last few days. Tons of great stuff here all conveniently packed for popping in the car cd-player. Some of my other favorites include:
Hester Synne, The Shape Of Things To Come, the live tracks, Harem Nocturne demo, Ichabob Crane, the cassette songs (that sound great!), and One Potato, Two Potato (which I saw them play live many years ago).

And, on top of all, they even spelled my name right! (Cough, Ivan, Cough) Wink

Dead You'll never let me live that one down, will you!

I listened to the whole Frankenstomp CD in my car yesterday, top to bottom, had a longer drive. Damn, it's just GREAT! Every loose end has been wrapped up, the full Pilgrims story now told. My personal faves after just a few listens are Sukiyaki, My Woodie, El Toro and Custom Shop, but really there is not a single weak track. And it's a LOT of music on that CD, 27 songs, but most fans will be familiar with the majority of it, making it much easier to 'digest'. Anyway, I love it! A band with a truly personal, signature sound, and simply one of the very, very best of the entire surf music revival era. The masters! CANNOT WAIT to see them again in Livorno!! Whooo-whooo!
