Any help would be great. Pretty sure it's a 65-67. I'm having trouble determining its value.
Thank you!

I believe it's an early 1966. It looks almost identical to mine. Same knobs and mosely trem, plus truss rod adjustment at heel.

Yes, welcome to this forum.

The serial number is between the last fret and the fret before.

The value depends on how is someone is willing to pay for it.
Check ebay prices.
If you read somewhere that this guitar is worth 1200 dollars this will not mean that someone is paying this.

good luck

Do you want to sell it? Or are you just interested in its value?

Let's identify some features:

Moseley models (Identifying characteristics) (built from Oct/Nov 65 to mid 67)
• Moseley vibrato replaces Vibramute. (now chrome diecast unit)
• Volume and Tone knobs change to "hat type" with "M" stamped on top with V and T. (change occurred between serial # 3206-3591) (Known serial# 3205 has smooth knobs, #3592 has "M" stamped knobs)
• 1967 knobs changed again to taller units without the V and T.
• Scratchplate goes to 7 attaching screws. (Known serial# 3205 has 8 screw scratchplate, #3592 has 7 screw scratchplate)
• Mid to late 1966, truss rod adjustment moved to headstock and plastic cover added. (change occurred between serial # 3732-4224)(Known serial# 3731 non-truss cover, 4225 has truss cover)
• Mosrite of California embossed on Pickups (with "R" trademark)
• V prefix added to serial number starting with 5000.
• Ventures endorsement ends, Ventures logo removed. Last Ventures logo MK I serial # falls within V5316 and V5365 (Known serial# V5315 has logo, V5366 non-logo)
• Misc info: Serial #2488 has Moseley smooth knobs and neck date Oct25th 1965
• Patent # added to Mosely Vibrato mid to late 66

Sorry if you guys cant see it. The serial # is = 3242

Dfar,
If you have the original faux alligator brown case, then that would increase its value. There were two kinds - one with a case pocket and one without. The "pocket-less" case is more rare. I've been collecting these guitars for years and only have two pocket-less cases to my name. One of them actually came with my sunburst '65 when I bought it several centuries ago.
Figure you'll pay $250-$400 for an original brown Mosrite case from the 1960s - if you can find one.

I've been offered in the neighborhood of $4,000.00 for a custom color all black '65 Mosrite that is real beat (some real "joints" hosted this guitar) but absolutely screams and plays well.

You should expect about that much today - even for the more common sunburst finish. Any dealer would charge at least that much; so why shouldn't you?
Figure you should get at least $2,000.00 (and lots of song and dance) if you do sell it to a dealer.
BTW - nice axe

So, j-mo, are you saying this model is a 1965?

Maybe this can help you pinpoint the date:

Dfar,
I can't really see detail on the guitar pictures you posted. It looks to be a'65 (or early 66) because the truss adjustment is at the neck base - not the headstock.
So -
Does the tailpiece say VIBRAMUTE or MOSELEY? Some '65s have the more valuable VIBRAMUTE. A MOSELEY usually indicates a late 65 or early 66. A Mosley tailpiece with a black background in the recess behind the bridge adds some more value to the guitar. That attribute disappeared in 65-66.
Are the knobs the smooth grooved type or do they have the 'M' on top? Smooth knobs are indicative of an early 65; 'M' top hat knobs - later 65 or early 66 on.

As a final analysis, do this:
Unscrew the pick guard from the body - CAREFULLY. Look at the numbers stamped on the volume and tone controls. You want to see the date codes.

About pot control date codes:
American pot(as in potentiometer; not the smoking stuff) manufacturers had their own numerical codes, for example 134 = Centralab, 137 = CTS and 304 = Stackpole.
Production dates are usually in three or four digits, one or two digits giving the year (for many US pots one digit refers to the 1950s, two digits to the 1960s), and two giving the week of the year. These often run on from the manufacturer code. For example 1346120 is a centralab pot (134) produced in the 20th week of 1961. So you should see a 13465xx or 13466xx codeifwe are talking about a 65-66 Mosrite. All this does out the door, of course, if a previous owner changed the pots.
Using the above info should enable you to date the guitar to within 2-4 weeks of manufacture. Use the POT code with the highest date. Figure the pot controls were made 2-4 weeks before they found their way into your guitar since the Mosrite factory was humming in 65-66 to keep up with demand.

If it is a 65, what I stated previously to you should give you an idea of your guitar's value. Beware of the dealer tap dance if you take that route.

Hope this helps..

Jmo, can't thank u enough... Checked out the number = 1346534

Dfar,
34th week of 1965.. That means your Mosrite was probably made around September-October 1965. You've got at least a $4,000.00 guitar. Don't take a penny less (retail, of course). Expect nit picking on "condition" to beat down an offer price from a dealer. Trust me, I've heard all the "singing".

Or keep it and play it ..what it's made for, right?
Glad I could help
J Mo'
