Highly recommended! My only gripe is that it isn't longer, but I understand the need to edit for general audiences. My favorite surf-related moment is when Plas Johnson is talking about recording Surfer Stomp for the "band" The Marketts.

I haven't seen the final cut now showing in theaters. But I did see an earlier version back in April of 2012. I know Denny was able to add Leon Russell and license more music. I can't wait to see the finished film.

This is Noel. Reverb's at maximum an' I'm givin' 'er all she's got.

I'm going tonight! Cool old vintage theater in the hipster part of Denver. Tiki bar after that - should be a great night!

Watched it last week on Verizon OnDemand. Got teary eyed a few times, these cats were just SO amazing.

I am doing an on-air interview with Denny Tedesco tomorrow night (March 21) at 8pm Pacific. Tune in at 89.7 or on the internet at kfjc.org. We plan to talk about all aspects of the film including the connections between the Wrecking Crew and surf music. I got to see an online screener of the film - I think it's awfully good. I will post a link to the archive after the show. A friend told me she had watched it on Netflix by the way and I hear it's available on iTunes.

I want to be Carol Kaye when I grow up.

Yes CousinMary, Carol is sooooo cool. I have a grade school crush on her. Perhaps you can ask why Jerry Cole got left out. My one other tiny gripe about the film.

I think it's the best music documentary I ever saw. Up there, anyway.

Up in podunks-ville, just waiting for the email notice that says, "Go here to BUY IT."
Cool

I saw it last weekend, and Denny was there to do a QnA after the showing.
I really liked it, it went into more personal areas than I thought it would, which was cool. I learned that Carol Kaye started playing Jazz Guitar Live in clubs at 16 years old. Shock
I wish it went deeper into the instro surf side of things, but being that a lot of it was no name-fake bands,(that the same guys in the crew would record, at other studios(moonlighting from Capitol) and mostly instro, I get why they glossed over it pretty fast.
Highly Recommended.

Hope I can get it on DVD soon.

When you have to shoot ... shoot! Don't talk.

I saw it a long time back when it played in Vancouver BC. I just checked my autograph book, and I did get Denny's autograph while there. I thought it was marvelous. I hope the DVD has 6 hours of additional interviews. I'd like at least an hour where people talk about the Wrecking Crew and Jan Berry.
