The 2nd time I'd played my new Fender So-Cal Speed Shop Strat, I was having a pretty fun jam session, thinking that some of what I was jamming could be further developed into full blown hot rod/surf tunes, then I started to play a few already existing songs that I've managed to pick up, here and there. It was then that I realized I must have really thrashed with my jamming, the 1st time I played it, as I was pretty much a whole note or more below tune, on all 6 strings. I was plugged into my Line 6 Guitar POD 2.0, at the time, and simply switched on the tuner to get it back into tune.
As it is, I should've written down what the out of tune notes were, so I could've gone back to them later. With that, would tuning down a whole note across all 6 strings be a viable means toward a surf guitar sound? I've still got a bit of experimenting to do, with my Guitar POD and my 3 most recent axes (Fender Standard Telecaster, the above mentioned So-Cal Strat and an Ibanez Jet King), so I'm liable to be playing around with some alternate tunings, as well, in the coming future...can't have all 6 guitars standard tuned, now...or can I? ;)
