The resistors in the power supply can must have changed a good bit as well looking at the voltage on the first half of that 12AX7

I think part of that may have been done to add some additional gain in the first stage. Supposedly higher voltages make for better gain and headroom to a point.

Ever run into those tapped pots outside of a Fender? I can't recall that I have.

But then I've led a sheltered amp life. Mostly Fenders, two damn Ampeq's and some other minor players.

I have a '61 Epiphone Rivoli "Bass" amp with a built-in optical compressor that I intend to make that my "what the hell is THAT?" amp. It is really clean and a D-130 might just liven it up. Really a cool little amp, open back even.

The next project for the bench is a 1484 Silvertone with a shorted power transformer. Lucky for me, I have a spare parts amp.

Stay warm Badge.......... Heck, we need to stay warm down here too.

Traditional........speak softly and play through a big blonde amp. Did I mention that I still like big blonde amps?

Never, but I'm also pretty sheltered. I wonder sometimes if it was simply a technical solution to having to use a particular pot value of the day to get close to the design value. Most of the schematics I see, their use goes away after the blonde era.

Sure thing. LMAO

Badge...........-26? Go get on a plane and get your butt down here.....!!!

I guarantee the Karvana Surf Stomp this weekend will warm your soul.

I even have a spare ticket to the Super Cross....

There is still time.

Thanks Ed, I truly appreciate the thought. I'm kind of in a partial care-giver role & have a couple things called responsibilities, having given my word some decades ago. If I can sometime motivate the "kids" to pick up some of the load the truck would stay and me & the 38mpg Mazda would be headed down the road.

Segue-ing back to gear; sorry for the hijack but couldn't resist when I saw the wx greeting me this morning.
