Permalink Monument from the new Man From Ravcon album

Admittedly, my recent work has strayed from the surf genre, but I thought some of you might enjoy hearing this one from my upcoming album, The Puzzle Master. Release date: 3/3/2015

Mike,
dig the acoustic intro with the slightly "familiar", classic feel and then the way it morphs into what I would now call one of your "cinematic" themes.
Really dig the piano at the end too.
Cool!

Records comes out in March, right?

Cheers,
Jeff

Mike,

I remember reading awhile back about how you were using Garage Band to record most/all of your songs in your home studio (with amazing results, I might add). I really enjoyed learning about the process you used to convert your musical ideas into actual recordings. It was very inspiring from the standpoint that just about everyone reading your post had access to the same basic tools (computer, free/inexpensive DAW software, guitar, etc.) to create their own music. Of course there are other factors such as talent, time, and persistence, but the notion being that you're not relying on a big-dollar studio/engineer or a cast of supporting musicians to produce excellent recordings of your songs.

Unfortunately, after listening to "Monument" I'm considering listing all my gear on craigslist and deleting all traces of Garage Band from my mac. But seriously, this track is fantastic. The composition, playing, and recording are all first-rate. I'm still blown away by the high production value you attain in your home studio. Thanks for sharing and looking forward to hearing more tracks from The Puzzle Master!

I'm very late to giving this the undistracted hearing it deserves. It's spectacular! I was immediately inspired with thoughts of somehow performing it in concert, ala Pink Floyd, Yes, or Emerson, Lake and Palmer. I'm with murph - jaw fully dropped!

This is Noel. Reverb's at maximum an' I'm givin' 'er all she's got.

Thanks Murph, thanks Noel. I really appreciate it. It's good to know that all the time I waste doing this isn't totally wasted. Wink

Mike, first, yeah, the level of production knocks me out - full stop. Thumbs Up

Jeff mentioned "cinematic" and I've had this experience before with one of your pieces. After the first couple minutes I was able to make up my own little sequence and get it visually solid. Reluctant to mention specifics because everyone else can use their imagination, although mine tends to pull alot of pieces together quickly on a musical cue into a whole little supporting plot. (A pony stomped on my head when I was a kid, so...)

It is not surf. It IS genuinely and truly a HOME RUN in being supportive of the imagination. Someone in Hollyweird may want that one.

Thanks guys, I appreciate you giving it a listen. I been hesitant to post the new stuff, being so un-surf, but I knew folks here were open minded. Glad ya'll dig it!

Oh heck yeah. It's fun & a good exercise for the imagination as well. I had this whole twilight sequence going, zero dialogue, where 2 guys were on a Cigarette running from Miami to Bimini to rescue some girl on a rich scumbag's motor yacht, with occasional silent flashbacks to him slappin' her around, and then back to the backbreaking run in the boat. (If Quentin calls I'll let ya know how it turns out.)

Keep drivin' on.

Mike, you never cease to impress! Great stuff.

Either you surf, or you fight.

That's excellent Badger. Wish I could take that trip.

Thanks Mike, I appreciate it!

It's great! You say it strays from the surf genre, but to me you're just taking it in new interesting directions. Kudos!
