Tavo sums up a big chunk of the truth about electric guitars and the market for them right here.
Yay for small company builders!

the "real" deal has become skewed over time though especially in todays market. I was a die hard fender strat guy for most of my life but at one point I started realizing that there were too many generalizations in the build of the instrument. The guitars became pre-chewed lasagna for the masses. Beautiful things still come from my beloved Fender factory but not what really moves me or works for me and my single pot Irish whiskey taste on a craftbeer budget. Small builders are now able to
give us guitars with a custom shop craftsmanship and a choice of very good components and we dont have to sell our car to buy one.

I absolutely agree when it comes to the big brands like Fender, Gibson, Gretsch, etc.
But a small builder like Mosrite had a consistent quality (not as good as the big brands at their peak) and you won't go wrong with a Semie crafted guitar and get the 'real deal'. Exceptions mark the rules here.

While optimizing their margin the big brand's ties decided (like in every branch) that 'cheap' is always better and the new way to go. We can be very thankful to live in a time where small manufacturers have the possibilities to build outstanding products at a moderate price. Ever picked up a custom shop Fender when it arrives at the guitar store, straight out of the box? It's a shame
