Hi guys. Bringing back this thread. Looking to "upgrade" a Jaguar with the Pure Vintage 65 pickups. Along with the change, I figured I should also install new pots. Does anyone know what the AV65 Jaguar's stock 1MEG tone pot cap value is?

Yes ... does look to be 0.01 uF ...

I just tried several caps in my Telecaster. I tried a Frailin "magic cap" (.0015) when I got some Frailin pickups. It had no effect at all on the neck pickup and sounded slightly fatter with the bridge pickup. The original .047 on Telecasters gets too dark for me so I put an .022 orange drop and it's just right, I like to get dark but not too dark. The $20 .022 foil cap I put in my Jaguar doesn't sound any better than the $3 orange drop, however it looks much cooler, too bad it's hidden under the plate.

A fun thing I like to do is buy some of the "holy grail" caps but in Jag values. My Jags mostly have Black Beauties or Bumblebees but in .01 or in the .003 hi-pass circuit value. They go for no more than a few bucks on ebay. Just a fun thing to do, I've never been a cap swapper to see if the tone changes. I just like seeing big caps in the cavities. Since I have the hi-pass where the rhythm circuit is, you can see these big and beautiful caps through the holes where the roller knobs used to be.
