Hi there,
Years ago, when CD's were new, I saw a show on MTV or V-H1 where they showed the process record labels went through to re-master recordings for CD which were formally only found on Vinyl.
I seem to remember they had an oven they used to bake the tapes in before transporting them to the studio. The temp was around 200 or 225 yet I can't recall for how long. The idea was that it somehow sped up the electrons on the tape for a better tranfer to digital.
Has anybody heard of this and know the specific details of how and why?
