As some of you may know, I do a monthly surf show here in Atlanta and to promote I tweet, blog, and now podcast! You can subscribe at iTunes or stream on the blog. Our debut episode features an interview from North Carolina's Arrows out as well as music from groups that have performed previously at the Southern Surf Stomp. I apologize for the audio quality of the interview but hope to address the issue in future episodes.
Track list:
The Monterreys "Machete!"
The Surge! "Paddle or Die",
The Mutations "Surfer's Dream",
Daikaiju "Flight of Garuda",
Kill, Baby...Kill! "Trioxin Twist",
The Mystery Men? "The Devil You Know",
Arrows Out "Yes, Maybe",
Arrows Out "Tessellate",
MOONBASE "Smoke",
El Fossil "Hair Pin",
Gemini 13 "Chopped and Channeled",
The High Fidelics "Lil' Curfew Breaker",
The Zaratans "Wavos Maximos".

Intro and outro music, "Southern Surf Syndicate Theme", provided by The Penetrators.

I figured it out. But the new iTunes app is horrid.
I listen (intermittently) to NSSR on something called Radio Tuna on my iPod 5. Can't listen to you podcast or Fibreglass Jungle on it tho.

Wow, what a relief! Did not know that there was a surf/instro venue in Atlanta. Couldn`t find anything at the usual venues, like Eddie's, etc.

Great finding out about the blog and podcast too. It might have started slow, but those last 3 or 4 tracks were smokin'. Subbed and looking fwd to the 20th.

Dan, thanks for listening and your comments. Kavarna isn't really a venue for surf or instro, they are just nice enough to let me host a monthly show. The Star Bar in Little 5 Points has historically been the most welcoming venue for these styles. Hope to meet you on the 20th if we have not yet done so. I'll be the goober stuttering on the microphone between bands so please come say hi!

Thank you Chad. Will do. Also bringing a couple of guitar playing friends who need a surf introduction. Will also check out the Star Bar.

Chad and MadScientist, great meeting you guys last night and thanks for the warm welcome. Andy and I really dug Arrows Out and MOONBASE. Some really great song writing that was exceptionally well delivered by MOONBASE. Your DR held it's own in the mix, but your lead's Twin Reverb (I think) was absolutely ferocious. Both left us wanting more, but sadly a babysitter dictated an early departure. Look forward to the next one.

Really great to meet you, Dan! Hope to see you at more events around town!

Episode 2 is now available and features an interview with Gary Evans of the Intoxicators, and highlights surf music from Florida.

Track list:
The Strychnines - "Gutbomb"
The Delusionaires - "Snakebite"
Blue Stingrays - "Green Sea"
Bongo King - "Salsa Safari"
The Gutter Queens - "22 Miles"
Haole Kats - "Chasing the Dragon"
The Intoxicators - "Phantom Mustang"
The Intoxicators - "Indira"
The Hodaddys - "A/A Feuler"
Legend of the Seagullmen - "The Deep-Sea Diver"
Cutback - "Conan the Surferian"
Tidal Wave - "Tidal Wave"
Shoot the Pier - "The Witches (of the Rock)"
The NovaRays - "The Dare"
Gold Dust Lounge - "Humble Hill"

Cool Chad, I will definitely check this out.

I was wondering if you or your Florida contacts knew anything about the Florida band "The Cavefish". There was a guy that was pretty active on SG101 in the early days called "ButchDelux" who was in this band. You can hear a song of theirs on our 2006 Member's comp (the first song "A Boy Named Tsunami") here:

I was always curious what happened to Butch.

Damn, sounds like a really great player. I didn't know anything about them but it'd be worth asking Gary Evans or Bill Sims.

Hey Brian,
I was fortunate enough to meet and hang out with Butch a couple of times down in Florida at The Hukilau. In fact, I saw him perform as part of The Disasternauts. Really great player! I'll see if I can get in touch with him again.

I enjoyed this one a lot, and was a little confused by The Blue Stingrays track until I remembered that The Heartbreakers are from Gainesville, FL.

And The Delusionaires...love the sleazy stuff. Such a cool band.
