Malc, you can also drag the photo into the area a new tab goes and it will open in a new tab at full size. That is my trick, anyways.
Or right-click and "open image in new tab"
Thanks but no can do in IE10 IE11

I have updated the javascript libraries the site uses. Hopefully the only thing you will notice is the bug involving the "more smilies" pop-up is gone (when you clicked on the title bar it would jump to the bottom of the page). But if you see anything weird let me know. I quickly tried out all the features that rely on these libraries and they seemed ok, but I may have missed something. Thanks.
Next on the agenda is a simpler PM system and then the surf band map. Don't know how much I can get done before the convention, but we'll see.

Surf bands map is great.
Might be great to think forward and design it to show also the "forthcoming events map"
Registration page: I always get the same page, it's really simple to build a robot that creates new users. What about some randomness, asking to add 2 numbers, showing a random & famous album cover of (the pyramids, dick dale, the challengers, the astronauts ...) and asking the guy to write the band's name.

+1 on the SSL effort although I understand that is a long row to plow.
Might be the wrong place but wonder if it's possible to configure the search function to allow searcher to discriminate in which sub-fora it will search to further narrow & accelerate the results from the outset of the search.

Just a heads up I leave for California tomorrow morning and I won't return until the following Monday night. I'm not sure how often I'll get a chance to approve calendar events, news stories, answer PMs or emails, etc. Thank you for your patience! I hope to see many of you at the 7th Annual SG101 Convention! WOOT!

Brian,
I'm sending you a PM tomorrow morning about a News Story AND Calendar Event and if I don't hear back from you I'm going to bad mouth you in the Gear Forum.
Just because I'm jealous that your going to the Convention. LOL
Have a great time and thanks for all that you do.

I've redone the private messages system, getting rid of the pop-up window which was kind of hard to use on small devices. It should work basically the same as before. One new feature is the ability to report messages for spam or abuse.
Let me know if you see any problems or have suggestions.
I recognize it's a controversial decision to limit inbox & outbox sizes to 30 messages. An alternative would be to have the site automatically purge messages older than say a year and then you could have a much larger limit. It may also be nice if there was a way for you to export your PM's to say email in case you wanted to save them. Whaddya think?

Oh and you may need to clear your browser's cache for the PM's to look right. On most desktop systems you can just hit F5 to reload the full page.

Finally got around to paginating your list of calendar events. They will now be shown in reverse chronological order, 25 per page. This probably only affects a small number of you who have added a large number of shows to our calendar (e.g. Unsteady Freddie). It should make it easier to find recent events that require changes.
