Auditioning mastering engineers, who stands out in our genre?

www.cutbacksurfband.com

We used this place for our latest 45rpm. Fantastic work.

We just used Brian Murphree. He also mastered the latest material from Daikaiju. I am beyond blown away with the magic he worked in the studio. And his rates are some of the best we have found. Drop me a line and I can put you in touch with him if you are interested. He is based out of Nashville.

THE KBK ... This is the last known signal. We offer Sanctuary.

A. Hammer Mastering. Danny turned us on to him and we ended up sending our mixes to him. Top flight. I think that, besides the TomorrowMen, other Bay Area bands like the Deadbeats, Pollo Del Mar, Frankie & the Pool Boys have had their discs mastered by hime. Highly recommended. http://ahammer.com/

Totally. Gary's work at A. Hammer made the Tmen and Deadbeats mixes come alive, it's a huge part of the sound. I wasn't involved with the Tomorrowmen mastering, but he was very helpful and accommodating of the Deadbeats, especially since we were newbies to the process. He was very clear about what he was doing and made sure we got exactly what we wanted right there in person, and it sounded so much better thanks to his help!

Gary not only mastered, he mixed our album too. What's great about Gary is he's a true surf music fan, so his heart as well as his ears are in it. He has a pretty amazing list of credits too….

Danny, thanks, that's what we are looking for.

I'd be interested - my recording mixing mastering credits include The Fathoms, The Tube Compilation and our latest Derangers CD on Deep Eddy (where I had to remaster 20 years worth of tracks). I've been a surf and roots producer my whole life. Here's a track I just finished mixing yesterday (actually not mastered yet - needs a little low end work but it's close). Derangers - Revenge of Chupacabra (La Venganza!)

So I'm searching for a mastering engineer. Here's what I see happening. Very little editing will be done. What I think I need is just the final mastering ie, sound levels balanced song to song and noise reduction especially at the beginning and ends of songs. I approached Phil Dirt but he said no thank you.

I have AIFF files, 1 instrument per track.

This topic thread is more on topic than the last one I started which was confusing.

But then who ever thought typing skills would pay off?

Traditional........speak softly and play through a big blonde amp. Did I mention that I still like big blonde amps?

LMAO I should've kept my mouth shut; 05B and when they found out I could type gave me a teletype thinking I'd really enjoy doing simultaneous Morse copy (I prefer hand). Typical Army, no good deed goes unpunished; 1st of many lessons.
