Permalink New Crazy Aces Video - Recording "KikoBella"

New Topic

Here's some footage we shot while working through and recording "KikoBella" for the new record Surfadelic Spy-a-Go-Go which should be available in the next two weeks.
It's a pretty thorough document of what guitars we used for the tracks with the exception of Oscar who cut his final track with his Eastwood 6 string bass.
Hope you dig it.

I'm just amazed by your dexterity, playing right and left handed. And matching left and right handed vintage guitars.( Sorry, couldn't resist!). Great song. Looking forward to the completed album.

AND Reverb tanks AND amps for left handed! Wow! (could not resist also… Smile )

Twang cheers!

The real difficult aspect is to find left handed guitars and amps with the backwards logos and scripts..........very rare indeed! LOL

Ha Ha, Thanks guys. The inverted video is me being technically challenged with an ipad, attempting to produce and engineer a record and not having enough time to figure out how to invert video.

YOW-zer! Cool stuff.
I even think I see an Epi in there that grew a Bigsby when it went south.

Time for a new CD!

I like where you're going. It will be interesting to hear the new cd. I have a thought of your direction. It will be interesting to see if I'm FOS.

Way cool! Love the slide.

I think you sound even BETTER left handed. Of course I would think that. The song is very good with a nice memorable melody. I'll buy it!

An absolutely fantastic video and song, Jeff! Did my eyes deceive me, or are you using a '50s Antoria for slide? If so, that was Hank Marvin's first electric guitar, which he used on a bunch of early (first six monhts of '59) tracks by Cliff Richard, back when the band was known as the Drifers, before they changed their name to the Shadows. Here are a few photos. An extremely rare guitar!

Ivan, Ha Ha....you noticed!
I wondered if you'd spot that. I figured if anyone recognized it it would be you. The Antorias were made by Guyatone, as mine is branded. The model is an LG-50 and yes, they re quite rare. I searched for one (that was affordable) for years and one day I walked into a friend's shop in Victoria, BC and there it was and he gave me a wonderful deal (Michael at Guitars On Fort) It sounds lovely, one of Ry Cooders favorites.
I've seen that top picture before but never the bottom one, thanks for posting that and thanks for taking in the video and your kind words.
Much appreciated.

Very cool, Jeff! It looks identical to Hank's! This is the guitar that Hank used for Cliff's entire debut album and also on a couple of very early instrumentals released as the Drifters - Jet Black and Driftin', as well as Bongo Blues.

Anyway, enough of that - again, really REALLY cool video, Jeff, and great song! i look forward to hearing your new album.

Neat story! While I was off running fuel dragsters, you guys were finding music history for us to enjoy later. Thank you!
