A little (surfin) bird tells me that there's going to be an Chicago Exotica '07 in July and the Trashmen are supposed to be there!! Plus, the Exotics, the Volcanos, Reluctant Aquanauts, the Neanderthals etc, etc. Checking flights to Chicago right now... —Paul |

Can't wait! .... seems all the surf sound is out west and no one ever comes to Chicago ... even the few surf bands in the midwest don't play very often ... it sucks. If anyone else in Chicago knows of any good shows ... surf or surf/garage rock that come up ... let me know Oh, does anyone know where I can find Satan's Pilgrims tabs? I want the tab for The Outsider. All I'm finding is Que Honda .... |

Of course, we'll also have some hula dancers, guest DJs, vintage surf flicks, vendors selling the best of Tiki and Hawaiiana, with smaller events on Thursday night, Friday night, and Sunday afternoon. So the Astronauts on the bill aren't the Colorado legends and they're not the German combo that released a bunch of great vinyl 7"s and an LP in the 90's...that's disappointing. I think if it was either one of those groups I'd be buying my airline tickets. Still a great bill though and heck, maybe this group of Astronauts is good (although I definitely wouldn't have picked that band name - it's confusing enough having two established surf/instro bands with the name). —Sean Surf CD's / Vinyl / Fanzines / DVD's |
