A little (surfin) bird tells me that there's going to be an Chicago Exotica '07 in July and the Trashmen are supposed to be there!!
Plus, the Exotics, the Volcanos, Reluctant Aquanauts, the Neanderthals etc, etc.
Checking flights to Chicago right now...

It should be a great time! It was originally announced that there would be no Exotica in '007, but many held out hope. Am very happy they have decided to put it together again. You know, I heard a rumor that the event DJs are supposed to be pretty good too

Can't wait! .... seems all the surf sound is out west and no one ever comes to Chicago ... even the few surf bands in the midwest don't play very often ... it sucks. If anyone else in Chicago knows of any good shows ... surf or surf/garage rock that come up ... let me know ....
Oh, does anyone know where I can find Satan's Pilgrims tabs? I want the tab for The Outsider. All I'm finding is Que Honda ....

Aloha all!
We are pleased to announce that Exotica 2007 is on. Mark your calendars for the weekend of July 7, that's 7/7/07. We will once again be having an all-day blowout that Saturday at Fitzgerald's with music provided by great acts such as the The Astronauts, The Volcanos, The Reluctant Aquanauts, The Bikini Beachcombers, and more. Joining us again this year are The Neanderthals and while The Los Straitjackets can not be there this time, we have Los Santos! We are also VERY pleased to announce that this year we are honored to feature the legendary band The Trashmen! That's right, the bird IS the word this summer at Exotica!
Of course, we'll also have some hula dancers, guest DJs, vintage surf flicks, vendors selling the best of Tiki and Hawaiiana, with smaller events on Thursday night, Friday night, and Sunday afternoon.
Our website is currently being updated, but you can go to the website www.chicagoexotica.com and sign up. Once we are up and running everyone on the email list will get an update
Hope you can come out and join us in celebrating as Tiki surfs into Chicago this summer.

So the Astronauts on the bill aren't the Colorado legends and they're not the German combo that released a bunch of great vinyl 7"s and an LP in the 90's...that's disappointing. I think if it was either one of those groups I'd be buying my airline tickets. Still a great bill though and heck, maybe this group of Astronauts is good (although I definitely wouldn't have picked that band name - it's confusing enough having two established surf/instro bands with the name).

Alright, one warm Blatz with a skittle in it to give it that mixed drink tiki feel.
