We played a coffee house that usually has bluegrass and gospel bands. They put up posters and hyped the gig on their facebook page and some people actually came in just to hear some surf, and it must have gone well, because they invited us back for another gig!

That's awesome! Greetings from Greenville, NC Smile We're practically neighbors. I play in a Bluegrass band and an Instro-Surf band. My Bluegrass band plays regularly at the Coffee Shack in Winterville. I'd through about trying to get The Out of Limits in there but I think we'd be too loud. We don't really do "traditional" surf.

My impression of the South is that they definitely have a pickin' culture – an appreciation of the guitar by layer and listener – that is largely lacking in other parts of the country. Glad for you that you get a good reception there.

Squink Out!

Cool. Yeah, we're just down the road in Goldsboro, and the gig was at Common Grounds in Bunn. We're hoping to get a surf Saturday thing going there. You should check them out for a gig opportunity. We got a little bit of grief about being too loud, but not much. Let us know when you have a gig (with either band) and we'll come out and hear you.

There are a lot of great pickers down here, and a lot of them will give you support if you play well regardless of genre. Man, you get these older bluegrass players who have sixty years of picking experience and the things they can do will make your jaw drop.
