I am finally tracking my first surf! The first song clicks away at about 178 bpm. What a rush!

Very cool.
Are you going to post the results or is this the start of a larger project?

Larger project for sure but I am going to finish this song completely and hopefully put a nice video together that properly sets context of the song.

I have to hand it to the surf guitarist. I have been practicing the lead guitar part (main hook) to this song for months and have taken for granted how challenging maintaining a good drip bubble rhythm track at around 180 bpm can be. It only has to be perfect so no pressure there.

All the best! Can't wait to see the results.

This is Noel. Reverb's at maximum an' I'm givin' 'er all she's got.

Thanks Noel! Producing a surf record will be a whole new experience for me. There is a bit of a learning curve to setting the mix. I might have to pour through the recording section for some tips.

Yep more snow on the way!

When all the backing tracks are coming through on the cans, one of the greatest thrills in my life is pushing the record button with a guitar in my hands, a hot signal coming from the amp and a great riff in head. Truly a rush.....

It's a great feeling isn't it?
Only beaten by doing it live with a whole band.
I hate engineering but I love recording, creating.
Looking forward to hearing what you're recording.

I have to agree on all counts. I hate all the setup and the getting started crap but once you start hearing signs of hope it gets you really pumped up until you are done.

Here's the first song!

Thanks Jeff! Noel turned me on to your interview and told me you have built a recording studio at home with a lot of vintage equipment. That is very cool.

I was very concerned about getting a good sound in the mix for this but I guess my Twin with the reverb loop going through my BBE greenmachine and back into the normal channel did pretty well. My guitar of choice for this one was my 150.00 vintage modified jag I bought off craigslist a few months ago plugged straight into the twin.

It's zero out and we are going to take some time today to re-track some drums to a couple of high energy songs plus adding a nice slow groove song and an upbeat one. Keeping warm on the Northcoast!
