Not traditional surf, but cool, nonetheless, here's "Land Locked" by Jimmy Thackery & the Drivers:

Nice find Bob - kinda Surf Kings-ish.

Thanks, Rick. Jimmy's a blues-rock guy, who does mosty vocal stuff, but throws in a few instrumental gems on every album and in every set.

i've seen him several times........great live show

I've been following Jimmy for many years, and have been to several shows. A truly great Strat-Master, and, along with his blues-rock, he has a love for surf/twang/spy type music.

Jimmy Thackery has an all-instrumental CD, "Guitar." I have one but I find his tone shrill and I quit listening.

I prefer guitar tones that have plenty of chime without brittleness, grind, or piercing quality. That may sound trite, but most lead guitars on surf guitar recordings sound harsh to me. Many bands that seem popular on SG101 have little or no harshness.
