Anyone have a source either online or in print for the guitar tab of "El Gato" by the Chandelles? My surf music books don't have it and I've had no luck online.

hi! "Anyone have a source either online or in print for the guitar tab of "El Gato" by the Chandelles? " I have a gross version once written down. surprised to hear Ralfs comments on it. In my opinion, it is simply a I - IV - V progession in F# minor ... send me your mail-address, maybe my humble effort is of some help ... yours http://www.surfgrammeln-san.org |

If you have some tab, why not upload it here? —Site dude - S3 Agent #202 "It starts... when it begins" -- Ralf Kilauea |

Not sure how useful this will be since English is not your first language, but here's a pretty simple explanation of what people mean by I - IV - V. This stuff, even the basics, is rarely seen as useful by people who are self-taught ear players, but for those of us hacking our way through it it's a good way to start to understand things while we try to develop an ear. I also like the number system as a way of communicating about it. About.com - Songwriting 101 —The Mystery Men? Last edited: Dec 26, 2013 09:34:27 |

mostly because it is inaccurate - however, as a starting point, i will submit it as i apparently cannot post ASCII-tabs here @ ralf: you know that I really, really appreciate your musicianship! but that scale is F# minor! beim erdäpfelsalat meiner oma!!!! what is inaccurate here is the chord - arpeggio from the V to the IV (that is, in that case, C# and B ...). that I - IV - V thing is the most popular chord progression in popular music, it refers to the chords that can be built out of the chosen scale. yours http://www.surfgrammeln-san.org Last edited: Dec 26, 2013 10:25:03 |

You can put tabs in a forum post if you use the code block. But it's probably better for longer pieces to upload it to the file section. I'm with Ralf, from what I remember that song is either sped up or slowed down or something making it a bit hard to figure out by ear if you are trying to play along with the recording. —Site dude - S3 Agent #202 "It starts... when it begins" -- Ralf Kilauea |

Also don't worry if it is inaccurate. Almost all tabs on the internet are inaccurate. You post what you got so others can improve upon it. —Site dude - S3 Agent #202 "It starts... when it begins" -- Ralf Kilauea |

I am playing ElGato with my band...in the key of G .... those cool descending licks linking the parts together are just a pentatonic scale on the high E string, start with your pinky on 13th fret F I dont really know anything about theory ,I just pick 'em out by ear....El Gato sounds way more difficult than it really is..once I sat down and figured out that it was in 'G' it came to me pretty quick. |

The arpeggiated chords in the intro and breaks have added notes – not just Major/minor triads. This makes the tonality ambiguous and 'floaty'. I haven't tried to figure it out (it hasn't grabbed me just yet) but if I were to figure it, I'd start with chorus and work back from there, as it's less ambiguous; once you get that figured, the logic of the intro/break will be clearer. — |
