The formula is based on the 12th fret being equidistant between the nut and the bridge to arrive at proper intonation. I you can compensate and arrive at that, you could make something like this work.

Musical mathematics.........great, eh?

The easy way is simply swap around pickups.....well, maybe it ain't that easy.

It pretty much sounds like my tele used to.
It's an OG pine body, with standard tele wiring, Texas specials (with a neck rewind).
Really the only difference sonically is a little buzz from the trem (unplugged).
Plugged in they're nice and snarly. Too bad the garagey band is no longer...
