Permalink fender solid state unit - what pan?

New Topic

I recently acquired a fender fr 1000 solid state reverb unit and the reverb is weak (insert ss vs. tube comment here). It has an accutronics 4ab3c1b pan, but when I switch it with a 4eb3c1b there is a much stronger reverb. Does anybody know what the proper pan is? I don't know if the one I have is faulty or a mismatch.

The numbers of the pan describe its electronic characteristics, and it's best to stick with the one designed to fit. You might chance upon an interesting replacement, but unless you have lots of data, it's a crapshoot.
Find a schematic online and that will clear away the ambiguity.
Here is a link I found to an pdf schematic:
Fender FR 1000 Reverb
P.S. I use an old Gibson SS RV3A which I had serviced recently and it sounds pretty damn good as a more splashy alternative to my SF Twin's built-in reverb (which has longer tail and is more 'natural acoustic' sounding). It's great to have short & splashy + long and wet to choose from. Makes the dry signal sound shockingly naked.

Squink Out!

Thanks JO. Unfortunately the schematic doesn't say what type of pan to use., and I don't know if the current pan is the correct type.
