Permalink WTB/WTT Fender Twin Reverb Head Cab

I need a head cab to house my SF Twin Reverb without speakers. I have good gear to offer in trade. Anybody local to So Cal?

What you really need is a Dual Showman Reverb head cab. The '75 TR head I bought from Dario is housed in one. Exactly the same chassis. Plenty of room for the reverb pan.

The cab linked above could be finished anyway you wish to match your speaker cabs.

Sweet! Thanks Hamm! Fresno is almost local, too.

I spoke to a local guy with a cl ad but I was not impressed with the craftsmanship I saw. This price is competitive. I did a web search and saw the work of a guy on another forum that looks very nice too and am inquiring of him as well.

I really like the looks of the "Pine guitar speaker cabinet builder's" work shown in his ebay store. Great prices too, considering.

The only thing that concerned me if I read it correctly was 1/2" back panels. Seems a bit on the overkill side to me. I think 1/4" is the norm.

I may buy a 2-12 open back cap from this guy in Fresno for a pair of Guass 12s I have. I want to use it with my Twin head amp.

Does Charlie go for trades? I am short on cash. Any SG101ers out there in SoCal that build cabs willing to sell or trade? Also, any tutorials on cab covering?

I am leaning toward Mojotone for a complete, covered head cab at this point.
The vagueries of sourcing trim parts and tolex and shipping cost make the bigger outfit's product more attractive for the price. Any comments on MT's work and service? Color scheme recommendations? I am leaning toward a blue or ocean sparkle tolex with Fender Silver/Blue stripe grillcloth at no extra charge.

I have a Mojo Deluxe Reverb cab finished in blonde tolex and oxblood grill. It is a nice piece and well made. I bought it second hand from a record company that used it for a video shoot. No issues with Mojotone.

I would also get JD Newell to quote the cab. I have several Newell cabs and there is no visible difference between his work and Mojotone. He is not a big gun and most likely has lower overhead. JD is a good head and a musician himself. He has never disappointed me.

Yes, one of these regular production JD makes will work:
BANDMASTER / SHOWMAN / DUAL SHOWMAN REVERB HEAD CABINETS...........189.00
Shipping may be a biznatch though...

It appears the dimensions of BF & SF Twin Chassis are equivalent, comparing my own measurements of the SF with Mojo's aftermarket BF Twin chassis.

So then it comes down to price. JD newell is the most expensive@ $189 + $29 shipping,
The Moj is $189 but has free shipping

Then there is this guy in Alabam' selling on ebay:
Head Cabinet Many Styles Custom Made coastlineamps (1062)

Apparently only $145+$20 shipping to LA. Maybe best deal?

Negotiating with Coastline Amps on ebay right now. He can do all the Fender Mojo cosmetic configurations, and then some, at a price significantly lower than the Moj. I may be going with Ocean Sparkle tolex & Turquiose/Silver/White Fender grillcloth at $145 + $20 shipping today. Willing to pay for insurance to avoid repeating the USPS missing cargo syndrome I recently experienced.

Sorry to learn about the lost shipment. Sounds like a great deal. I hope you get exactly what you want. Love to see it.

This is Noel. Reverb's at maximum an' I'm givin' 'er all she's got.

I will have to charge back the ebay seller even though the USPS are the ones who screwed up. I just can't afford to put my guitar together by paying for parts that don't arrive. COnflicted but I can't write it off against taxes.
The cabs from Coastline Amps on ebay look like a good deal, customers are happy with them and I guess ole Alabam' is a cheap place to run a woodshop out of. In my experience, the Southland is where furniture gets made in this country.
