not a new topic for this effect 
just want to made one for share the setting of it
i have work a lot with and since i have read how SanchoPansen set up is tank to high volume i try it cause before i regulary use the setting of
mix 4
dwell 6
tone 5
then with the frv1 i have always too much treble in the sound and i find a way to avoid this ,put the amp backward in the room ,the sound goes before on the wall behind me and after return too me

with the jag too much ice peek high need to re set up the frv1
i search the same sound of the Los Apollos in café bagdad but i can't find it always have too much treble in my sound ,there is a way too avoid it ?
i use 2 amp a deluxe reverb and ac4 tv ,the sound of the 2 are similar for my hears when they are set up at same level (level room )(even if i like better the deluxe with my mosrite copy cause on the ac4 i lost the clean sound du to high gain pick up)
something i find often is a miss of bass when the frv1 is engaged ?
need to discrase the tone of it ? (but i loose the splash)
or set up the amp diffrently ? (on the deluxe vib channel set up bass 7 high 6 or on normal bass 4 high 5)the ac4 is on 4 w mode with the tone at 4)

You mean Los Apollos? The space surf trio? From Berlin? 
Ralf Kilauea (who wrote and played on "Café Bagdad") used a tank and a Showman for the recording (I think). BUT one of the main reasons for the less trebly sound on the song is probably that he played a Framus Sorento guitar. That's a semi-hollowbody with singlecoils, which kind of sounds like a Jazzmaster but (guess what) with a bit less treble. I remember one of their gigs where Ralf started out with the Framus, broke a string and then went on with a Jazzmaster, and it sounded much brighter then. Which however doesn't mean that it sounded dull before. There is something special about these Sorento guitars, I cannot really put to words... I had one from Ralf for a few weeks to test and sometimes I still regret that I didn't buy it since it was such a nice sounding and looking guitar. But somehow I couldn't handle it, so I had to pass. (I'm pretty much a Strat guy.)
By the way: We still play "Café Bagdad" (with kind permission from Ralf), which in the meantime also found its way unto the Kilaueas' Setlist, which is great since it gave me the chance to "sit in" once:

then it is the secret !the sorento i have a hollow will try with ,thanks
but for the more treble it is not only for this song ,i try to find the way too sound less edgy without loosing the reverb splash

Well, I don't know if there is a single secret or even a real secret. As stated before: I have seen Ralf play with other guitars too, and although it sounded somewhat different, it always sounded good. Well, almost always.
When I have the problem of a too trebly reverb sound (which is quite often because I play a Strat) it usually is not the reverb pedal but that the amp has the wrong EQ settings. And in most cases it's not even the treble then but the mids.

I don't think the setting suggested applies for the FRV-1, because of the tanks gain stage. IIRC a mix above 5 on a tank will dial in some gain (the tech guys can explain what exactly happens) and I'm afraid this isn't the case on the pedal. Anyway, icepicking is the most common issue we all have to face while playing reverb drenched surf music. There are tons of things you could do to make it less icey and even small changes make a huge difference. For example different caps in your guitar, caps on the tank, tubes, speaker choice, tilt back, auralex gramma, weber beam blocker, strings, etc. etc. It all sums up. Just gotta try a whole bunch of stuff. Cheers!
P.S.: Forgot you play Mosrites, although you've mentioned it. I also only play Mosrites/Hallmarks and yes, they can be ear piercing because of the hot PUs. Try to lower the PUs! Helped me a lot. The bridge PU is about 1-1,5 cm away from the strings now and the neck PU is almost plain with the body. When I select both PUs (middle position) I get a very sweet and clean surfy sound. Not as aggressive as Mosrites tend to be.

I use the pedal when I want to be fast, I travel or for rehearsals. I have to say that keeping the tone at 6 is way too much for me. I never go over 5 (half way) but most of the I keep the tone at 3/4. On Jag or Jazz. Mix and Dwell I use them same as the tank, lower mix and higher dwell. generally dwell at 6/7 and mix at 4/5. it works good for me especially at high volumes.
Ralf has hardly used the FRV-1. he recently used a Strymon pedal and then is has gone back to the good-old-tank.

thanks as i see i am not the only one to fight with the too much high
i will try your set up Lorenzo ,more over with the jag it become really faster ice pick(my hears don't support it too much)

as Lorenzo said, I sold my FRV1 pedal...
At last FOR ME it was no good reverb sound.
But I heard from differnet people that they like it a lot! And, hey, when I played it with Lorenzo`s setup it sounded good!
Meanwhile I use mostly a tank or the strymon.
For the Cafe Bagdad recording I played, yes the Framus Sorento guitar, into my very good sounding 90`s RI Fender tank. This tank has got a better transformator (from TAD) and the good pan from TAD! From the tank into my Fender Vibro King amp (with JJ tubes). (You can see exactly this setup in the Cafe Bagdad video). Reverb setting: I do not remember exactly... maybe the 666 solution.

i think i will fight the bad by the bad ! need a real tank
i am not much pedal friendly too much ,scares me , you play less cause you spend time to ajust it

Tanks are cool and they make that groovy splash sound when you kick them but I seriously don't see what the fuss is about using this pedal. It's actually quite EASY!!
Lorenzo's post was pretty much on the money but here's my tip....
Set the three dials to the middle and tweak slightly left or right to your taste not below 4 or over 6 or 7.
In my opinion even a tank will sound like crap if you don't set it right.
